Year 11 and 12  News

Term 3 is a critical period for both Year 11 and Year 12 students, albeit for slightly different reasons. As both cohorts approach the end of their respective academic years, it is not uncommon for students to find it challenging to maintain focus. Ensuring sustained effort and commitment during this term is essential for long-term academic success.

Year 11

Upon completion of Term 3, Year 11 students will have only four weeks of learning and revision in Term 4 before sitting their Semester 2 examinations. It is therefore vital that students continue to engage fully in their current courses and maintain a consistent and rigorous study and revision routine throughout this term.

Year 12

General Courses and Certificates

For students completing General courses and Certificates, Term 3 marks the conclusion of their formal secondary schooling. All coursework must be finalised this term to ensure eligibility for the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). The final formal school day for VET students is Wednesday 17 September (Week 9) and for General students is Friday 19 September (Week 9).

ATAR

ATAR students will also complete all course content during Term 3 in preparation for their Mock Examinations. All ATAR students—regardless of whether they are studying four or fewer subjects—are required to attend school in Term 4 until Friday 17 October (Term 4, Week 1). During this time, students will receive feedback on their Mock Exams and undertake structured revision, which is essential preparation for the WACE examinations. Previous cohorts have strongly affirmed the importance and value of this review process in achieving their best possible results.

UniReady

UniReady students will have at least one examination during Week 10. If students are also enrolled in ATAR courses, it is important to check the Mock Exam timetable carefully to identify any additional exam sessions that are scheduled.

The final day of classes for UniReady students is Friday, 19 September (Week 9). However, students are expected to return to school during the first week of Term 4 to receive feedback on their Mock Exams.

We are working closely with students to help them stay on track and maximise their outcomes. We ask that parents please contact us if they have any concerns regarding their child’s academic engagement or emotional wellbeing. By working in partnership, we can provide the support necessary to ensure that:

  • ATAR students are well prepared for their WACE examinations; and
  • General/VET students meet the requirements for WACE and complete their Certificate qualifications.

Maintaining focus and momentum through Term 3 and into Term 4 is a key factor in high academic performance. We encourage all students to continue striving for their personal best as they approach these final, significant stages of their schooling.
