Kookaburra Class

In 3/4, we have been learning oh so much. Last week the focus was getting to know me (Mr Frederick), with; new games, classroom expectations being agreed upon, one-off fun activities, routine practice and sharing who we are as individuals. Feeling grateful to have such a magnificent class at a wonderful school.

This week we have hit the ground running with our core learning...

Reading - While reading Storm Boy, students are reflecting on the characters and events, and expanding their vocabulary by exploring interesting words from within the text. They have also read a variety of picture story books and completed text responses such as thinking about the use of our creativity in the book When Henry Caught Imaginitis.

Writing - The students have planned and drafted information reports on a topic of the their choice. Topics have included koalas, Godzilla, canines and gemstones. Next step is to publish, revise and edit.

Mathematics - In Maths, the students have been renaming and expanding numbers. Recognising that 410 is the same as 41 tens, and that 9000 + 80 + 6 = 9086. We have also begun revisiting rounding numbers to the nearest 10 , 100 or 1000.

Congratulations to the entire 3/4 class for recieving Student of the Week! They all have made me feel so welcome and I have seen outsatanding displays of Respect, Responsibility and Grit both in and out of the classroom.

Below is a picture of our Reading Vocabulary Wall (pelicans cleverly crafted by the students). Ask your child to put any of these words in a sentence.
