Principal's message

Hello Alvie families,
What a lovely couple of weeks learning and playing we have had! We're very excited to announce that we have some baby chicks who are being cared for by our Silkies, Mr Frederick and Abel. We look forward to seeing them grow and visits to the classes as they get stronger. I'm really looking forward to celebrating Book Week next week and can't wait to see the different characters who visit us on Monday as well as snuggling up to read and munch on a sweet treat on Friday. Don't forget to get your orders in for the special food deal - available on Compass now.
Parent payments-Family account
School saving bonus amounts have now been transferred to your school family account. You can now use these funds to pay contributions towards the annual voluntary parent payments. Please give Liz a call if you would like to use some of your credit for this purpose. A reminder also, that the voluntary contributions you make to the school go directly towards the learning resources for our students freeing up our school budget for staffing, maintenance etc. We appreciate any amount you can contribute and there are a variety of payment options and flexibility in how much you pay.
Parent Opinion Survey
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver/ Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
All families are invited to participate in the survey. The link and information for how to complete this will be sent out on Compass.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
Problem Solving
Over the past week I have challenged the students to use a new way of thinking about problems. Particularly when they have a social problem in the yard. The framework we have talked about is remembering 'Stop- talk to the person about what you want them to stop or what the problem is, Walk - walk away from the problem, Talk - talk to an adult'. With this in mind students can solve their own problems or be reminded to seek help from an adult. Talk to your child about how they could use the 'Stop, Walk, Talk' problem solving approach with peers of siblings.
Have a warm weekend!
