Reconcilliation Action Plan (RAP)
Reconciliation Action Plans promotes the department’s vision for a reconciled Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and heritages are valued and accepted as a foundation for unity, equality, and enduring positive change.
All schools are required to develop a RAP and it is highly recommended that these plans be developed with the school community.
I invite any parents interested in being a part of our work in developing a RAP to contact me and join our team. We look forward to your engagement with this item.
School Staff have the right to be safe at work
The Department of Education has released a series of posters that detail the expectations around respecting school staff in the workplace. They are:
- Verbal aggression and intimidation is unacceptable
- Online abuse is unacceptable
- Unreasonable demands are not 'part of the job'
- Insulting jokes are unacceptable
- Threats and verbal abuse are unacceptable
Good relationships between teachers and parents should:
- Be respectful and trustworthy
- Have fair and reasonable expectations for all
- Include working together
- Have open and honest communication
Thank you to the fantastic Jells Park community that already show these respectful behaviors and values.
Important Reminders / notes:
Medication at School: Parents are reminded that if you require the school to give your child medication then there is a few MUST DO's - you are required to fill out a medication authority form, provide clear instructions on dose and time, and the medication needs to be in the labelled packaging. Single tablets or vials without instructions can not be administered by the school.
Students can not have any medication (except for ventolin) with them during the school day. All medications must be handed to the office.

JPPS value - Respect
This week, our Waste Warriors experienced a powerful lesson in respect—not from a classroom lecture, but from the fields, animals, and natural surroundings of Edendale Farm. I was fortunate to accompany the students on the excursion.
During their visit, our students had the opportunity to interact with farm animals, explore sustainable practices, and learn about the journey food takes from production to pantry. What stood out to me most wasn’t just the information they absorbed, but the way they conducted themselves—with genuine respect.
Our Waste Warriors approached animals calmly, listened attentively to farm educators, and showed care when moving through the gardens. They asked thoughtful questions, took responsibility for their behavior, and showed kindness and respect to eachother and the educators.
Respect isn’t just about words; it’s reflected in actions. At Edendale, our students demonstrated that they understand how to value living things and shared spaces. They learned that respect for the environment means using resources wisely, and that respect for animals means treating them with gentleness and compassion.
I was very proud of the way our students represented JPPS and demonstrated our core value of respect.
