Principal News

Welcome to Term 3, a busy and productive term for all students and staff!
The core of the school's identity is encapsulated in its motto, the way, the truth and the life (John 14-6), which at Marian Catholic College is referred to as "living the Marian Way." This means following a faith pathway modelled in the life and teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ and seen through the caring and compassion of his mother, Mary.
Living the Marian Way also includes three core values: respect, growth, and community.
Respect is a key expression of love, care, and kindness within the school community. It means demonstrating mutual respect and mindfulness for the dignity of every person, regardless of whether you agree with or like them. It acknowledges that everyone has feelings, and while those feelings can vary, our behavior must always show care and respect for others. This is an ongoing journey for everyone, regardless of age.
Growth is another essential value. As humans, we learn from our mistakes. By reflecting on our actions, we can improve our understanding and skills. When we actively seek growth and learn from our mistakes, we model forgiveness—for ourselves and others—and work to restore our relationships.
Finally, the value of community reminds us that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. A strong community works together to achieve shared goals and offers hope, friendship and support. By thinking beyond our own immediate needs, we contribute to an environment where everyone can flourish and become the best version of themselves.
Subject Selections for Year 11 2026
Choosing subjects for their senior courses can feel overwhelming for both students and their families. At Marian, the subject selection process for senior studies takes place over a two week period to allow students to fully explore all options.
We encourage Year 10 students to approach the process by reflecting on their personal strengths, interests, and passions. It’s important to select some subjects that bring personal satisfaction as well as those that align with future pathways. Students tend to perform best when they enjoy what they are learning or have a strong motivation to learn in a particular area in order to achieve a career goal.
Finally, it is important to remember that no choice is truly final and that a pathway can lead to many different destinations. By taking the time to research, reflect, and seek guidance, students can feel confident in making a choice that aligns with their goals and aspirations.
Thank you to Mr Seers, Mr Morris and the KLA Leaders and senior teachers for all of their support for this process, for preparing the different online resources, the handbooks and for the many information sessions, including the Yr 11 Subject Information Night on Thursday 30/7. There was a great turn-out that night of students and parents.

Year 12 Trials and final term
In this final term for Year 12 students at Marian, many emotions are likely running high. Excitement, trepidation, and a sense of disbelief are all to be expected as the final weeks draw to a close. In Week 3, Year 12 students commence their trial exams and we wish them well during this period and thank Mrs Norris and her team for providing exam supervision. As the students work towards their final projects, assessments and exams, and look forward to well-deserved celebrations at the end of term, they can be assured of the unwavering support of the entire school community. Everyone at Marian is committed to their success, whatever form that may take. Our thanks also to Mrs Centofanti, Mr Seers and Mr Herb, Mrs Segrave, Mr Summerville and all Senior teachers and leaders, mentors, counselling and support staff for their hard work, organisation and care for Year 12 during this period.
The students are encouraged to maintain a strong finish, to seek support whenever they need it, and to remember the message of Joshua 1:9.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
