Welcoming Japanese Exchange Students

On July 28, we had the pleasure of welcoming 20 Japanese exchange students from Wako International School to our Cranbourne Campus. It was a day filled with energy, creativity, and cross-cultural connections!

The day kicked off with a vibrant dance performance by our guests, followed by a beautiful singing performance from our talented Year 9 Japanese Language students. During Period 2, the exchange students joined a drawing workshop, painting Australian native plants while bonding with our St Peter’s students.

A major highlight was an AFL session on the oval, led by our enthusiastic Sports Captains — a first-time experience for many! Later, in the kitchen, they teamed up with our Year 10 French students to whip up Aussie classics like lamingtons, ANZAC biscuits, and fairy bread. The day ended on a high with a Japanese Speech Contest, where our visitors acted as judges and made lasting connections with our students.

As the bus pulled away, heartfelt farewells and waves marked the end of a memorable visit. We’re so grateful for this special day of learning, laughter, and friendship.

XSPAND Year 9 REC Fundraising

This past week, our Year 9 XSPAND REC students have been busy running fundraising

activities in support of Caritas’ Global Crisis Appeals. As part of the project, students researched global issues, developed a marketing strategy, and designed an activity that was low-cost but high impact.

Throughout the week, the Year 9s hosted a variety of events, from a Mario Kart competition and mini golf to bake sales, raffles, and mini games, all in the name of a good cause. Thanks to their creativity, teamwork, and generosity, over $500 was raised for Caritas’ emergency appeals. This is an outstanding achievement that will make a real difference for those in need around the world.
