Year 3/4

Year 3/4 Cluster News
Home inquiry: This week, we introduced students to our new Unit of Inquiry, Trade and Transport. As part of this, we have given each student a map of Australia and of the world. Together with your child, can you please draw where you have travelled as a family using the following colours:
Blue – travelled on the sea
Black – travelled on the road, via a car or bus
Green – travelled on tracks, via a train
Red – travelled via air

Christian Studies: We continue to explore Christian Beliefs, focusing on the Trinity and how this informs a Christian view of the world.
Unit of Inquiry: As part of our yearlong Who We Are unit on Wellbeing and Safety, we have made a decision to focus on teaching mindfulness strategies through the Mindup Program. This will assist with the student’s emotional wellbeing and social skills. This means Mindfulness will look very different to the children. Some have struggled with this transition, however we anticipate that with practice, it will become easier as the year goes on.
In our current How We Organise Ourselves unit, Trade and Transport, we will be deep diving into forms of transportation that move resources around Australia and the world. This ties in with our mapping learning in mathematics this week, where we are focusing on interpreting maps, grid references, and scale.

Students will be expected to be in formal school uniform for this event.

This term the year 3 & 4 students will be holding their celebration of learning on Tuesday 16th September, beginning at 6pm with a presentation. We look forward to you joining us for this and sharing in your child's learning.
