Home Inquiry
Reading: Aim to read for 15 minutes each night at home. Keep on reading books for your Premiers Reading Challenge. PRC finishes – Week 7 this term.
Mathematics: Create an array to show your working out for a times table you are confident at. Example: 2 x 3 would be drawn as a grid of 2 columns and 3 rows, creating six boxes.
Home Inquiry: Think about what teams you are a part of, and how they teach us to work with others.
Learning this week:
Literacy: Word Study: Year 2 sound focus this week is: ei & eigh. Year 3 sound focus this week is: a for ai. Below are the two lists of words we will be using at school to practice the sounds with.

Writer’s Workshop: This term we are starting a craft unit focusing on how we can make our writing POP! We will be learning about different techniques author’s use and then using them in our own writing.
Readers Workshop: This term we are going to work in groups as Book Clubs to talk about and read books together.
Mathematics: We have started the term focusing on Multiplication skills and strategies. We will also be revisiting Place Value, specifically ordering and naming numbers.
Unit of Inquiry: In Term 3 and 4 we have a continuing focus on How We Organise Ourselves inquiring into Cooperation and Collaboration. We will have weekly lessons as well as entire weeks dedicated to this unit throughout the semester.
This week we will begin our next Unit of Inquiry- How the World Works about Cycles. This week we will explore our current understandings and unpack the central idea and lines of inquiry.

School Photo Day – Tuesday 5th August (Term 3, Week 3)
Year 3 students please wear their formal uniform this day, Year 2 students PE as per usual.
Ping Pong A Thon – Friday 15th August (Term 3, Week 4)
Our school and church community will be hosting the Ping Pong A thon again this term to raise vital funds and awareness for child slavery.
Book Week Parade and Dress Up Day – Tuesday 19th August (Term 3, Week 5)
More information to come, just putting the date here so we can start thinking costumes and getting excited for a day and week all about books.
