Clyde North Campus News

End of term, busy than ever!
The exams are over, and the new semester has begun, and holidays are fast approaching. We are all in need of a good rest and some quality family time. Year 12 will of course be using the holidays to study and catch but must also take time to relax and re-energise, ready for Term 3.
Year 10 Work Experience:
Just prior to the end of exams year 10 students were involved in the work experience program, either onsite at a workplace or via the virtual world of work at school. Please enjoy this extract from one student’s work experience reflection.
The Deakin Laboratory Work Experience Program was an impactful and eye-opening opportunity that brought science to life through hands-on experiences across various fields. From tracking animals in Environmental Science to identifying bacteria in Microbiology and even making ice cream in Chemistry, each session offered something new and exciting. As someone passionate about studying science at university, this program helped me discover what areas I truly enjoy and deepened my appreciation for the work scientists do every day. The Microbiology workshops stood out to me and confirmed my interest in biology. What made the experience even more inspiring was the presence of so many female scientists and researchers leading the sessions. Hearing their stories of determination and curiosity showed me that with passion and perseverance, it’s possible to turn a love for science into a career. This program offered more than learning—it was a glimpse into a future I now feel excited to pursue. (Dashi B)

College Captains Initiative – a great idea.
College Captains Initiative – A Great Idea
We’re excited to share a fantastic initiative led by our college Captains, who continue to demonstrate outstanding leadership and teamwork across both campuses.
To support and celebrate our Year 12 students, the College Captains have created Spirit Days a series of simple, yet fun, themed events designed to strengthen connection, build community, and bring joy during the final year of school. These light-hearted activities offer a welcome break from the routine, while also promoting creativity and charitable giving.
The first Spirit Day was Crazy Sock Day on Tuesday, 24th June. Year 12 students wore their most colourful and quirky socks with their PE uniform. A gold coin donation was collected with all proceeds going to Caritas Australia to support their humanitarian work.
More Spirit Days are planned for Term 3, each designed to create meaningful, memorable moments for our Year 12s.
We thank our college Captains for their leadership and vision in developing this initiative. It’s a great example of student voice in action and a reminder of the importance of connection and community in the final year of school.
St Peter’s Day 1st July
One of the most anticipated days in our school calendar is St Peter’s Day a celebration of our community, our patron saint, and all that makes our school so special. As is tradition, we begin the day with a campus Mass, celebrated by our Parish Priest. This meaningful start allows us to pause, reflect, and come together in prayer. We are deeply grateful to Father for his ongoing guidance and the genuine care he shows for our school community. Students are reminded that not attending the mass will mean they are not able to participate in the rest of the day’s activities. Our Mass gives us the purpose of this day and celebration.
Following Mass, the campus transforms into a lively fairground atmosphere, filled with joy and excitement. Students and staff can enjoy a variety of carnival rides, including Music Trip, Cha Cha, Crazy Cars, and the infamous Dunking (of staff) Machine! There are also eight House-led activities, ranging from a silent disco and haunted house to henna painting and a movie with popcorn.
A highlight of the day is always the Annual Talent Quest, where students shine and showcase their incredible skills. A huge thank you to everyone involved in planning this event, especially Ms McKenna and the House Leaders for coordinating what promises to be a beautiful Mass.
Special thanks also to Mr O’Hara, our head chef for the day, who will be running the free BBQ for all students.
Students are invited to wear appropriate free dress, keeping in mind closed-toe footwear is required—no sandals, crocs, or thongs—for safety, especially when participating in rides.
We look forward to celebrating this wonderful day together!

City of Casey Youth Leadership Summit
Yesterday students from both Clyde North and Cranbourne attended the Casey Leadership day. It provided the students with opportunities on how to navigate many situations and skills to become successful leaders.
Gwen Gayagoy had this to report on her experience from the day:
The Casey Youth Summit was an amazing opportunity filled with many workshops and speeches to help students and prepare them for the future and leadership opportunities, or any issues they might experience. The environment created at Bunjil that day was energetic, passionate, and driven. It was a place where there were no dumb questions and a place where I knew that my voice mattered and had power. It was definitely an unforgettable event. A highlight of the day would be the small icebreakers throughout the day. It was fun to step out of my comfort zone and socialise with people my age from different schools. As a result, it helped me gain confidence in interacting with new people.
