Principal's Report

Semester One Reports
As we work our way towards the end of Term 2, it signals our first reporting cycle (and the first school report for our Prep students). While we promote continual parent and teacher communication about the learning progression of students throughout the year, it is at the end of Term 2 and Term 4 that we publish a written report.
This end of semester report, grades the students on all the learning outcomes that have been in the teaching curriculum and also grades the students against the Victorian Curriculum standards. Students are graded against the standards based on the following system -
D – at the expected level for Pre-Prep
0.5 – at the expected level midway through Prep
F – at the expected level end of Prep
F.5 – at the expected level midway through Year 1
1.0 - at the expected level end of Year 1
1.5 - at the expected level midway through Year 2
2.0 - at the expected level end of Year 2
2.5 - at the expected level midway through Year 3
3.0 - at the expected level end of Year 3
3.5 - at the expected level midway through Year 4
4.0 - at the expected level end of Year 4
4.5 - at the expected level midway though Year 5
5.0 - at the expected level end of Year 5
5.5 - at the expected level midway through Year 6
6.0 - at the expected level end of Year 6
6.5 - at the expected level midway through Year 7
7.0 - at the expected level end of Year 7
This grading will be shown as a graph on the school report.
Even though our explicit teaching ends with the Year 6 curriculum, when assessments and student work indicate that they are working above this level, secondary school gradings are used. All of our curriculum program besides Greek are marked in this manner.
The teacher’s judgement of how students are progressing with the curriculum learning outcomes (Well Below, Below, At Level, Above, Well Above) influence the overall Victorian Curriculum grading.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Each year we allocate a student free day to allow parents and teachers to meet to discuss student progress. This will be on Monday, June 30 (no school for students). This is an opportunity we ask all parents/carers to take up. A Compass message will be sent to inform you about the booking procedure. A booking can be made for a face to face meeting, a video link or a phone call. Again, I ask all parents/carers to take advantage of this opportunity.
Policies
The school currently has two policies open for community consultation, the Sun Protection policy and the Child Safe and Wellbeing policy. Please see the Compass newsfeed for further information.
