Year 10
Self-Defence Class, Morrisby Career Profile and Christian Studies
On Tuesday, when the VCE students were completing the GAT test, Mrs Bell and Mrs Van Rensburg organised a special program for the Year 10s to complete.
Taking part in the special program was a meaningful and rewarding experience that supported my growth in several important ways. One of the most valuable aspects was the self-defence training, which included both theoretical and practical components. The theory lessons taught us how to recognise and avoid potentially dangerous situations, as well as how to prevent accidents by staying aware and thinking ahead. These sessions reminded us that even though we live in a generally safe country, it’s still important to remain cautious and take personal safety seriously. The practical sessions focused on simple, effective techniques that anyone can use to protect themselves if necessary. Learning these movements gave me a real sense of confidence and helped me feel more secure in everyday life.
The program included a variety of games that promoted teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. These activities offered a fun and relaxing break while still helping us build valuable social skills. Another key part of the program was completing the Morrisby Profile test—a career assessment designed to identify our strengths, interests, and aptitudes, and suggest possible career paths. It gave me helpful insights into my future and encouraged me to start thinking more clearly about my goals. Overall, the program was an excellent opportunity to build practical skills, gain self-awareness, and feel more confident about the road ahead.

Throughout Term 2, Year 10 students have been exploring the topic Relationships and the Christian Faith. This unit encouraged thoughtful reflection on questions such as: Who am I? What is my true identity? How can I grow in my faith, values, and character? How should I relate to others?
As part of the learning journey, we were pleased to welcome LMC Frontline, who delivered an engaging session on relationships. The presentation explored the purpose of boy-girl relationships, how to build them with respect and maturity, and the importance of keeping God at the centre.
Students also considered the value of community in nurturing healthy relationships. A highlight of the term was reading letters from Amari secondary students in Uganda. Our students responded with great enthusiasm, and their replies will now be sent back to Amari—continuing this meaningful exchange within our global community.
