Acting Principal's Message

Dear Parent and Carers,
As we come to the end of Term 2 and mark the midpoint of the school year, it's a timely moment to pause and celebrate how far our students have come. Staff have been busily writing mid-year reports and reflecting on the amazing growth of our students. The students’ progress, that I have been reading about as I read draft reports, is a testament to the dedication of our exceptional staff and the ongoing support of our school community. I am incredibly proud of their achievements and the learning growth they have all demonstrated. The school reports will be released to families on Thursday the 3rd July, via Compass.
What has been your student achievement for this semester?
When reading over the report, please take the opportunity with your child, to consider the following:
- celebrate your child’s achievements and focus on their strengths.
- discuss areas in which they can improve and ask your child what they would like to be better at. Then brainstorm two or three practical actions that they can take to improve on the identified areas.
- keep the ongoing conversation and partnership with the classroom teacher.
Avoid the temptation to compare your child’s report to that of a friend or particularly to a sibling. Each child is different, and learning develops at different rates for all children. Children are unique and have different interests, experiences, and opportunities that determine their ability to learn, and the pace at which they learn also varies. If your child is genuinely trying their best, then as a parent, you cannot ask for more.
The staff look forward to discussing your child’s progress with you, at the parent-teacher interviews, on Wednesday 24th July (next term). Bookings can be made through Compass soon.
Get a Tax break – Contribute to our Building and Library Funds (tax deductible)
We remain grateful to those families who have made contributions for 2025. If you haven't yet made your contribution, I encourage you to do so. Money contributed enables our school to have the amazing grounds that we have, the equipment which are in our classrooms, new furniture in classrooms, the new revamp of the library, the extra books in our library and classrooms, along with the amazing facilities that your children access every day, which are all above what the government funds the school.
Tax deductible donations to our Building and Library Funds can be made directly on Compass (Course Confirmation/Payments) or by contacting the Administration Office. Payments can be made either in full, or by instalment. A reminder that donations to the Building and Library Funds before 30 June are also tax deductible.

Yet again, our teachers have been amazing this term, and I have encouraged them to put away their laptops and enjoy their two-week break. I’ve encouraged them to focus on themselves, their friends, and families, and recharge themselves ready for term 3. I hope that all our community enjoy the very well-deserved break. We look forward to everyone’s safe return for the start of term, on Monday21st of July I look forward to seeing many of you at the end of term Community Coffee Cart next Friday. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our wonderful term and at the same time connect with others, see the musical talents of the Grade 4 students and purchase some Gr 6 baked items. By purchasing baked items, you support our Grade 6 students with their graduation.
As this will be my last newsletter for Toorak PS, I wish the school all the very best for the future. I leave with full confidence that Toorak PS is well placed to continue its strong tradition of academic excellence, inclusive practices, and holistic student wellbeing. The dedicated staff, engaged families, and wonderful students form a solid foundation for continued success. I look forward to hearing about the school’s future achievements and milestones and will always carry fond memories of my time here. Wishing you all the very best in the exciting years ahead.
The process to appoint the next TPS principal continues, and David Clark (School Council President) will be notified of the outcome before the end of the term. David will let the school community know, of the outcome of this process, as soon as it is possible.
Kind regards
Sharon Wildermuth
