From The Team

Over the past fortnight we held a Literacy Open Morning and would like to thank the parents who were able to join us for the first hour of the day. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity to see student learning in action and to spend time in the classroom with your child. It’s always a pleasure to connect with families, answer questions, and share in the learning experience.

We would also like to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of our Year 5 students who are participating in a Community Service project this term. As part of their leadership program, they’ve been exploring what it means to be a good leader, with a focus on supporting and helping others within their community. So far, they’ve been busy tidying the playground, clearing leaves, spreading mulch, and assisting in classrooms and the art room. This project will continue in Term 4, with students already planning more ways they can contribute to improving our school environment.

Integrated Studies - Mini Eco-House

In Integrated Studies, the Year 5/6 students have been working on an exciting project - designing and creating a mini sustainable house. The main goal is to ensure the house is environmentally friendly and includes features that support sustainability.

We worked in small groups of two or three, and were given two sessions to plan our designs. Our plans had to include at least four sustainable features such as solar panels, double-glazed windows, a garden, or a chicken coop. Once we completed our designs, we each presented them to the class, explaining our ideas and choices.

Next, we will begin building our mini houses using recycled boxes and other materials brought from home. Although we know building will be a challenging task, everyone is feeling very enthusiastic and ready to bring their sustainable house designs to life!
