Junior School  Report

Jocelyn Gepp

It’s been a vibrant and engaging few weeks in the Junior School, with students participating in a wide range of academic and co-curricular opportunities that support their learning, personal growth, and wellbeing.

In sport, our students have shown fantastic teamwork and school spirit. Junior and Intermediate teams have taken part in badminton, netball, and soccer competitions, representing Woodmans Hill Secondary College with pride and determination. A big congratulations to all students involved — your efforts on and off the court are commendable.

Our Year 8 female students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the Trade & Tech Fit Career Expo in Melbourne. This event, focused on empowering young women to explore pathways in trades and technology, offered hands-on workshops and the chance to hear from inspiring female professionals. The students came away with new ideas and a broadened perspective on future careers.

Meanwhile, Year 9 students participated in the Mythbusting Homelessness Presentation, a powerful session run by Uniting Care in partnership with Headspace and Berry Street. This presentation challenged common misconceptions around homelessness and mental health, promoting empathy, understanding, and informed thinking. We’re incredibly proud of how thoughtfully students engaged with the session.

We are very proud of all the students in the Junior School who have successfully completed their Semester 1 exams and final assessment tasks. It was fantastic to see them approach each challenge with focus and determination, showcasing their learning, growth, and dedication across all subject areas.

Last Day of Term – 2:30pm Finish

As mentioned in previous newsletters, we ask families to please take the opportunity over the upcoming school holidays to ensure students return in the correct academic school uniform at the start of Term 3. Wearing the correct uniform supports a strong sense of school pride and belonging across our Junior School community.

Hoodies, tracksuit pants and out of school jackets are not permitted. If you require assistance with uniform items, don't hesitate to reach out to your child Year Level Leader.

We’re looking forward to a wonderful final couple of weeks of Term 2, and we thank all students and families for their support and engagement throughout the term. We wish everyone a safe and restful school break when it arrives.
