VHAP Masterclass

VHAP Masterclass

Hosted by Taylors Lakes Secondary College

On Monday the 30th of June, we hosted Victoria University Secondary College, St Alban’s Secondary College and Keilor Downs Secondary College for our semester Masterclass in the Victorian High Abilities Program.

Our students at Taylors Lakes Secondary College made us extremely proud of the way they welcomed and supported our visitors.

Many students volunteered to meet the buses, helped with organisation and set up and made a real effort to ensure that our guests were able to have a wonderful learning experience throughout the day.

We had over 130 students collaborating together in their designated area of English or Mathematics. The Mathematics students had fun working on mathematics dilemmas like a Zombie Apocalypse and a range of exciting math focused challenges.

Our English students participated in activities that challenged their thinking around Utopia and what this would look like in areas like the environment and entertainment.

The presentations showcased the excellent thinking applied by each group.

It was impressive to see students making new friends and catching up with primary school buddies who are all part of the High Abilities Network.

The sense of camaraderie grew throughout the day as students settled into the new experience.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to Stephanie Burrafato, Instructional Practice Leader, who helped ensure this community event ran smoothly.

Next semester TLSC and our Network have been invited to Keilor Downs Secondary for our end of year Masterclass celebrations.

We look forward to this fun learning opportunity.
