JAYVIER YANG

Recently Volleyball Victoria hosted the 2025 State League awards night. 

 

In competition with an open age group of very strong candidates, Jayvier Yang of Year 10 was awarded the 2025 Male Rising Star Award.

 

At only 16 years old, Jayvier is one of the youngest athletes to receive this prestigious, annual award.

 

Javier and his teammate Michael Gordeyev, also of Year 10 now go into intensive preparations for the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championships.

JAYVIER AND MICHAEL IN FURTHER NEWS….

Updated: Jayvier Yang and Michael Gordeyev have just represented Victoria State competing in the Australian Youth Volleyball Championship 2025 in Perth. Their Victoria U17 Blue Team achieved 2nd place nationwide. 

 

Congratulations Michael and Jayvier. Another exciting result.

 

MIKAYLA WEERAKOON

Year 9 student, Mikayla Weerakoon, recently competed in two major International Taekwondo Championships. The 17th CK Classic, Malaysia and the 18th World Taekwondo Culture Expo, South Korea.

 

The contests attracted over 3500 participants representing over 30 countries and were conducted in front of a panel of elite judges, large crowds and members of the press.

 

Mikayla won a total of 3 gold medals plus 1 silver and 1 bronze while competing in sparring contests and taekwondo black belt pattern competitions. 

 

Mikayla represented Australia under the banner of the Joon No Taekwondo club, where she is taught by Grandmaster Joon No, a 9th Dan Black belt and Australia’s highest ranked instructor.

 

To achieve this result, Mikayla’s training commitment was up to 19 hours across 5 days a week. An outstanding dedication to her sport has been rewarded with these excellent results and we congratulate Mikayla on her success.

ANUSHKA MEHTA

Anushka Mehta of Year 8 has been selected to represent McKinnon Secondary College in the SSV, U15 National Cricket Championship, which will be held later this year in NSW.

 

It was tough competition. Anushka once again showed her skilled sportsmanship to secure a position.

 

We extend our congratulations to Anushka and wish her the best for the Nationals.
