Book Week

Throughout Book Week 2023, the school was filled with happiness and delight as students engaged in a range of activities to celebrate the enchanting world of books and the students' love of reading.

One of the highlights for the week was working with James Parker, Artist in Residence.  All students worked alongside James to create individual books - 'pockets of inspiration,' aligned to the theme of Book Week - 'Grow, Read, Inspire.'

Adding to the magic, we were fortunate to have Nadia Clancy, local MP, who captivated the students with her narrating of the book, 'If I was Prime Minister'.

The concept of 'walkalong stories' took students on a journey as they strolled through the school, tracing the narrative of a story, making the experience of storytelling fun and engaging.

The pinnacle of Book Week is undoubtedly the parade and assembly and this year didn't disappoint!  We thank our parent community for enabling our students to immerse themselves in the festivities by helping them 'dress-up' in creative and interesting costumes.

Staff always embrace the week and enjoy having fun alongside the students. We're already looking forward to 2024!

Southern Zone Rugby League Tag Carnival

On Monday students from G2 and G3 travelled to Brighton Primary School for a Tag Rugby Carnival. This was a non-contact event in which schools choose teams to participate in a modified version of Rugby League.  They played with determination and great teamwork all day. Our staff were extremely proud of the student's fantastic attitudes and the effort they made throughout the day.

Great job, everyone! A special mention to Charlie and Alya from G3 who were acknowledged for their exceptional sporting attitude and behaviour all day.

Learning in R5

R5 started Term three as if we never had a holiday! The students are learning about the Genre of Information Reports and have been reading and beginning to write some of their own. We began the topic by having a go at writing everything we already knew about dogs. We have labelled dog pictures and read information reports on dogs.  We then structured other informative reports to gain a better understanding on how this writing is constructed using a title, general statement, description and an evaluation. The students will continue to develop their skills as the term progresses. Here are some pictures of our progress.
