Hello everyone, Welcome back to the second newsletter of Term 3 for LOTE Chinese! It's a joy to see our journey continue, and I'm excited to share the incredible progress and engaging activities across all year levels. Let's dive right in!
Prep:
Our Prep students have been on a captivating journey exploring the beauty of the Chinese language and culture. This term, they've been discovering the art of using chopsticks, honing their motor skills and learning about an essential aspect of Chinese dining etiquette. Alongside this, they've delved into basic greetings, making their initial interactions in Chinese both fun and meaningful.
Junior School:
The Junior School learners, encompassing Grade 1 and Grade 2, have embarked on a cultural exploration filled with creativity. They've taken their chopstick skills to the next level by not only practicing but also designing their own unique chopsticks. Additionally, they've dived into the world of Chinese traditional dress, where imagination knows no bounds. To celebrate Father's Day, our students have crafted heartwarming cards in Chinese, showcasing their growing language proficiency. As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, they've engaged in a special activity, deepening their understanding of this traditional Chinese celebration.
Middle School:
In the Middle School segment, encompassing Grade 3 and Grade 4, our students have embraced new challenges and cultural insights. Fruit names have been a delightful topic, allowing them to expand their vocabulary in a delicious way. The students' artistic talents have been put to the test as they've sketched their own magnificent Chinese dragons, a symbol of strength and power. Father's Day hasn't gone unnoticed, as they've crafted heartfelt cards in Chinese. The approach of the Mid-Autumn Festival has inspired them to participate in an engaging activity that brings them closer to the cultural significance of this event.
Senior School:
In the Senior School level, which includes Grade 5 and Grade 6, our students have delved into more advanced language and cultural concepts. The fascinating world of Chinese currency and exchange rates has captured their attention, providing them with practical knowledge that extends beyond the classroom. Global education has also been a focal point, encouraging them to broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of different cultures around the world.
As we venture further into this term, it's evident that our students' passion for Chinese language and culture continues to flourish. Their dedication to learning is truly inspiring, and I'm confident that the experiences they gain will stay with them for years to come.
