New - AsheFest Recount

Last week some of our students had an awesome time at ASHEfest – Celebrating Culture Together. Students enjoyed face painting, story time with elders, arts and crafts, playing traditional Indigenous games and joined in with traditional dancing. There were also special appearances of AsheMan and RumbaWoman!

 

Jai Mason – 1/2 CD

On Wednesday, last week, the Prep, Year 1s and 2 and the Year 3s 

went by bus to the Rumbalara Football and Netball grounds.

The Yr 4s to Yr 6s went on Thursday.

 

Nyoka Winmar-Saunders– 1/2 CD

The children enjoyed having their faces painted.

 

Boston Ferrari – 1/2 FD

We had fun playing traditional Indigenous games.

 

Nevaeh Collins – 3/4

We joined in with traditional dancing and learnt how to dance like a kangaroo, an emu and Bungil the Eagle.

 

Zach Hall– 1/2 MW

There was also special appearances of AsheMan and RumbaWoman!

 

Willow Dean – 5/6

There was Jumping Castles. On Wednesday there was a giant crocodile and On Thursday there was a huge Lizard.

 

Lincoln Hitchcock-Warren – 1/2 JM

We also had running races. 

 

Savannah Hooker – 5/6

When we left ASHEfest, all the students got a Show bag with some fun things to play with.

 

Acknowledgement of Country               

At St Mary’s Primary School Mooroopna we Acknowledge the Traditional people of this land. The Yorta Yorta Nation are the Traditional Custodians of this area and we remember their elders, past, present and future. We remember that the Aboriginal people of Australia will always be the  traditional owners of the land on which we gather today. We continue to grow through education and reconciliation to a better future for all Australians.
