Preps Fauna Park Visit

The Preps had a wonderful day at the Kyabram Fauna Park last week and learnt lots about animals and the environment! Thank you to the Prep teachers for organising this fun day!

Mary's Birthday Mass

Thank you to everyone involved in our mass for the nativity of Mary.  Well done to our choir, altar servers, readers and Mrs Hicks who always does such an amazing job organising our masses.

Thank You Azem!

Azim Elmaz visited St Mary's last week and very generously provided  free sausages in bread to the students.  Please consider purchasing a sausage or burger from Azim's  BBQ which is out the front of Kmart each Saturday.  All money raised goes back into the community and to feed the underprivileged.

Ashefest

Our aboriginal students attended the Ashefest activities day last week and had a wonderful time! Thank you to Mrs Dyke and Tahlia for organising the day!

Staff Movement

Unfortunately Miss Corbo won't be with us next year, as she has taken up a position at Kialla West PS.  We thank her for her work at St Mary's this year and wish her all the best in her move. We are currently advertising for new teachers, please pass this advertisement on to anyone who may be interested.

School Council Meeting

Our School Council met recently.  The main discussion points are as follows:

  1. Buildings and grounds: Reviewed completed projects including new playgrounds, new carper in the Gr 1/2 wing, relining of car park. Planned new projects - painting front building (replacing current yellow with charcoal), replace car park fence along Toolamba Rd, junior soccer goals, resurface cricket pitch.
  2. Reviewed Catholic Identity review report.
  3. Discussed 2023 Parent/Carer survey.  We were pleased with the positive feedback and will send out a response with suggested improvements.

State Netball

Well done to our Gr 5/6 netball team for taking part in the state championships last week we had a boys team and a mixed team take part.  I was particularly pleased to receive this letter the following day:

To Mr Anthony Butts

I have just attended the Netball knockout to watch my granddaughter. We were adjacent your school's representative team. Whilst they may have been disappointed with their results they certainly excelled with their sportsmanship and more importantly the off court behaviour between games.

They and their coach were wonderful ambassadors for their school and I have attended many such events in the last twenty five years so I feel enable to comment

Yours Sincerely

Des R

Maternity Leave

We wish Miss Turk all the very best and every blessing for the arrival of her first child next month. She will be going on maternity leave in Term 4 and Meg Brown will be the replacement teacher until the end of the year. Meg has already spent some time teaching the grade and I am confident she will follow on with the wonderful teaching Coby has done since the beginning of the year.

Mooroopna Grand Final Win!

Congratulations to the many ex St Mary's students who played in the winning grand final team for Mooroopna recently.  Coached by one of our current parent's Justin Williams, the team came from well behind at 3 quarter time to snatch a thrilling win!

Podcast for Dad's

I encourage our dad's to listen to Hamish Blake's podcast "How Dad's Dad". Lots of great ideas and fun ways to connect with your kids.
