Brookside’s Annual R U OK? Day Celebrations

We are now just around the corner from R U OK? Day on Thursday the 14th of September, which means we are also approaching the end of Term 3. As many of you are aware, R U OK? Day is a national day of action where we encourage each other to have meaningful conversations whenever noticing someone that may need some support by asking the simple question of “are you okay?”.

On R U OK? Day, all of our students are invited to add a splash of yellow to their uniforms to celebrate the huge occasion. This may include hair ties, ribbons, socks, wristbands, or any other yellow accessories they may have at home. Students must still wear their proper school uniforms on the day.

We will also be organising a week of various activities, presentations, and events, all with a focus on mental health for our staff and students. Please stay tuned for more details as we approach the end of Term 3, and we hope you look forward to participating in such an exciting week with the school community!

The Salvation Army: Upcoming & Ongoing Programs

One of the support programs facilitated through The Salvation Army is the Children and Parenting Support Service (CaPSS). The CaPSS parenting support program is funded by the Australian Government and aims to strengthen family relationships and increase family connection to community activities.

Please see the attached fliers and have a look at a few upcoming and ongoing programs such as the Koori Kids Homework Club and FYI: GAMING.

Support Over the School Holidays

As this may be the final newsletter for Term 3, we would like to provide families with some resources regarding wellbeing support for students, and information on how parents/carers can support their children over the school holidays.

Please see the attached resources below, and we hope you all enjoy the school holidays!
