ART MASTERCLASS

The beginning of Term 3 saw the introduction of the inaugural Art Masterclass. Over the past few weeks, we have been carrying out our masterful creations across the school, which has been heavily inspired by the works of talented artist Romero Britto. 

The Art Masterclass supports students to develop their social and emotional regulation skills by working collaboratively through ART! The students focus on the expression of emotions and how the expression of emotions can impact on relationships with others, and consider the characteristics of respectful relationships and the behaviours that demonstrate sensitivity to diversity.

Students who are a part of this workshop have worked collaboratively with their peers and staff, in a joint mission and with the shared goal to beautify our school. Bringing vibrant colours, shapes and patterns we hope to bring a splash of joy and warmth to our surroundings, making Brookside a happy and inviting place to learn and grow. 

Our team has been hard at work, sharing and discussing ideas, creating designs that fit a specific brief. Every artist within the group has a chance to take on leadership roles each week and put into practise their skills in communication. With a positive approach, they instruct others to carry out tasks to complete their vision and bring their ideas from concept to reality. 

Our initial project, has received such positive ongoing feedback from both students and parents alike, the work attracts large crowds, creating such a buzz, which has many students wanting to join the program.

This Art Masterclass will continue right through till  the end of the year with additional projects to come. We are busy working towards producing another masterpiece that is anticipated to be unveiled at the Expo Fest next term. We hope to invite you on a guided tour during the expo, where the artist themselves will be present and available to discuss their work.
