Literacy Enrichment
During Term 3, the Literacy Team has been busy with a few key projects.
The first focuses on continuing the development of Stage 4 students’ understanding of sentence structure, with students reporting improvements in their understanding during personal reflection.
The Team has also been working with Stage 6 students on ways to improve their writing, focusing on using syntax knowledge to create cohesive and sustained arguments—elements required for quality written responses in the HSC examinations.
Finally, a prospective opportunity will be offered on Thursday 31 August from 5-6 pm for how to access, parents/carers of Year 7 and 9 students to attend a session on understanding the NAPLAN reports that students received earlier in the term. Information was sent to families about this recently via Compass.
There have been some changes to the way the proficiency standards are communicated by ACARA. The session is an opportunity to learn more about this, address any questions parents may have, and hear about how the College uses the results, alongside other forms of data, to plan for literacy enrichment across the College.
Parents/carers interested in attending this informative session, are asked to RSVP here.
