Regional Pathways Program
La Trobe University’s Regional Pathways Program helps country students gain the same opportunities as their city peers related to building confidence, exploring study options, and making university feel within reach.
At St Mary’s College, we’ve been fortunate to have Steph, and her student ambassadors visit fortnightly to support our Year 12 students. Through the program, students have explored career pathways, mental health, revision strategies, and even applied for early offers to La Trobe with lowered ATAR entry requirements.
In the final session last week, each participant received a La Trobe Bendigo hoodie as a token of their commitment and a reminder that university is possible. We thank the La Trobe team for their ongoing support in helping our students take their next steps with confidence.
Year 9 Army Careers Day
On Friday 12 September 2025, students attended the Army Careers Day at Puckapunyal. The event showcased the wide range of careers available in the Australian Army and Defence, with opportunities to speak directly with ADF members and recruitment staff about roles, training pathways, salary, benefits, and study options.
Students enjoyed interactive displays and live demonstrations, including tanks, artillery, transport vehicles, infantry equipment, and communications systems. They also took part in hands-on activities such as physical training sessions and even rides in Army
vehicles - an unforgettable experience that highlighted the many exciting possibilities a Defence career can offer.
