Support Learning at Home with Cloud Apps & ABC Learning Resources

As we wrap up the term, here are a couple of handy reminders for families about accessing learning tools from home - and how to make the most of them during the holidays or when catching up.

1. College Applications You Can Use at Home

Many of the digital tools your children use at the College are cloud-based and accessible from home. That means students can continue learning, revising, and engaging with class content outside of College hours. Some key examples include:

· Mathletics: Interactive maths activities aligned to lessons, great for practice or revision.

· ClickView: A large collection of educational videos and documentaries often used in           class.

· JacPlus: Digital textbooks and interactive resources used across multiple subjects.

Tip for Parents: Encourage your child to use the College’s many cloud-based applications from home when doing homework or revising, or if they’ve missed a lesson.

2. Exploring ABC Learning Resources

The ABC provides a wide range of free educational games and activities for students, designed to make learning fun and engaging. Parents and students can browse the collection here:

ABC Education Games

https://www.abc.net.au/education/subjects-and-topics/games

A couple of highlights include:

· Goat Chat - a fun way for younger students to practise grammar and sentence structure.

· Goat Punks - a punctuation-focused activity that helps students understand how                    punctuation shapes meaning in writing.

The site is divided by year levels, making it easy for parents and students to find resources suited to their stage of learning. While most resources are free to access, some activities may require a quick account setup to save progress or personalise the experience.

Tip for Parents: Explore these games alongside your child. They’re a safe and engaging way to reinforce classroom learning at home, and can also provide a useful alternative to purely recreational games.

Final Note

We’re fortunate that so many modern learning tools are accessible anywhere, anytime. Whether it’s catching up on missed schoolwork with the digital textbook library in JacPlus, practising maths with Mathletics, or exploring the ABC’s free education games, these tools give students more opportunities to learn at home in a positive, engaging way.

As always, the ICT team at St Mary’s College is here to help if you or your child need assistance accessing these resources.
