Wear it Purple day

Our school proudly celebrated Wear It Purple Day with cupcakes and games hosted by our Pride Club. A big thank you to all the staff and students who wore purple to show their allyship and support. Established in 2010, Wear It Purple Day began as a youth-led initiative to raise awareness about the experiences of LGBTQIA+ young people and to promote visibility, acceptance, and inclusion. Each year, schools and organisations across Australia wear purple to send the powerful message that every young person has the right to be proud of who they are and feel safe being themselves. For our school community, Wear It Purple Day is an important opportunity to stand together against discrimination and to affirm our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families.

Understanding Anger group

A short group intervention was recently run at our school to support students in developing a better understanding of anger and how to manage it. The three-part program explored what anger is, the emotions that often drive it, and practical strategies to help cope with it in healthy ways. Students volunteered to take part and worked in pairs to have open and honest conversations about what anger looks like for them. Through activities such as the anger iceberg, they were able to identify underlying emotions and build a deeper understanding of what might be happening beneath the surface of their anger. Thank you to all the students who participated in this program for your honesty, reflection, and willingness to learn.

R U OK Day

Our school celebrated R U OK? Day 2025 on Tuesday and reminded each other that a conversation could change a life not only on R U OK Day but any day of the year.  It is a day to remember that starting a conversation with someone in your world today is as simple as "Are you OK?" and can make a huge difference.  Staff and students came together for a BBQ lunch and snacks cooked by our resident Chef, Russell, followed by a soccer match during an extended lunch.
