Principal's Message
Karen Anderson - Acting Principal
Our nine week, third term is concluding. It has been fabulous to work with students for a second term. The end of the term brings an Interim Report and an opportunity to reflect on progress and plan for an amazing and ‘best foot forward’ final term of the academic year. Mid-year reports illustrated the successes of many of our students. The question to those students who are not currently achieving to a level they are capable of is, ‘what will you do in Term 4 to improve this?’ Staff are eager to have all students give their utmost and achieve success – an S (satisfactory) on every student report for second semester and a comment that outlines evidence of high performance, is the aim. That evidence may be in the form of a presentation, an analytical report on a film or calculations to show interest on an investment. Please speak with your child about what they are learning and support them to make connections with prior learning and to bring an open mindset.
Students modelling school values is exciting to see and usually means we have hit the mark in explaining ‘why’ a behaviour is important. Our end of term assembly next week is an opportunity to celebrate this and will be a prompt for all students to reflect on the term and plan for the next.
If you are contacted by the school to meet with us in person, please prioritise this time. Without your support, the highest levels of progress are not usually attained. Please be in contact with your child’s Homegroup teacher if you have questions or would like to speak about your child’s progress. The school can provide support and strategies, if required. Our Year Level Coordinators and engagement and wellbeing team of Juliet Bennie, Wellbeing Counsellor, and Emily Manti, Mental Health Practitioner, are available as is our Career Education team: Sarah Horner - teacher and Careers Practitioner, Denise Camenzuli - Structured Workplace Learning and Careers Assistant and Rachael Philp - Vocational Education and Training co-ordinator.
As I write, we are in Poorneet/tadpole season of the annual Eastern Kulin Seasonal Calendar, as described by Woiwurrung traditions. This time has temperatures rising and rain continuing. A walk in the grounds at the moment is a breath of cool air and hopefully a dose of sunshine!
I am looking forward to continuing at the school in Term 4. I wish you and your family all the best for the break - see you next term…
