Performing Arts

Talent Show:
The past few weeks have been extremely busy with lots of students showcasing their talents in the Talent Show. Round 1 finished and this week we began round 2. We hope to announce our finalists by the end of term and have a special performance at assembly next term.
Prep:
Our focus in Music has been fast and slow. We have used out bodies to move around to changing tempos, sung various songs such as ‘The Music Man’ and ‘Ride Your Bike’ and played a variety of instruments. For Drama, we used our body movements and expressions to act out nursery rhymes for the class to guess what they were. In Dance, students have learnt moves to dances, created their own and learnt to use the space accordingly.
Grade 1:
We have spent a few weeks planning, rehearsing, and performing short plays of fairy tales with a twist. It was very entertaining to see the ideas students brought to their performances and the costumes to match their characters. In Music, we have been learning songs that vary in tempo from slow, getting faster to fastest. Students sang, moved and played instruments to each song. For Dance we have learnt sequential moves as well as creating our own to various songs such as ‘Thriller’.
Grade 2:
Students have been very busy planning, rehearsing and performing their own short plays for the grade and giving feedback. The performances really varied, ranging from superheroes to K-Pop demon hunters, kidnapping and rescuing butterflies. In Music, we continued to use kitchen items and homemade items to make music and sing along to songs. For Dance we have learnt given moves to match songs as well as creating our own individually, with a partner or whole group.
