Lord,
We thank You for all the fathers in our lives,
both those we know and those we remember.
We thank You for the strength, guidance,
and love they provide,
and ask that You bless them
with Your own wisdom, patience and love.
Amen
Thank you to all the families who have contributed to the St Vinnies Winter Appeal. Your generous donations will provide essential items to those in need during the colder months. Your kindness not only brings comfort and warmth to individuals and families experiencing hardship, but it also reflects the strong sense of compassion and community within our school.
Thank you to all the families who attended our Faith Formation Evening last Thursday. It was a wonderful opportunity to gather as a community and share in such a meaningful experience. The children’s participation and engagement throughout the evening, alongside their parents and the presenter, was truly inspiring and made the session both valuable and memorable.
Moments like these remind us of the importance of coming together to nurture the faith of our children and to grow in faith as families. The evening not only deepened the children’s understanding but also allowed parents to engage in their child's spiritual journey.
A reminder that this Friday, September 5th, our school will be closed as staff take part in our Faith Formation Day. The day will be facilitated by Fr Rob Galea.
Fr. Rob Galea is a Roman Catholic priest who serves as a public speaker, musician, and author. He is widely known for his inspirational talks with young people, where he shares his faith in a way that is authentic, relatable, and uplifting. We are fortunate to have Fr Rob Galea joining us to lead the day through prayer, reflection, and formation.
On the 7th of September, the Catholic Church will celebrate the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who will become the first millennial saint, often affectionately called the “gamer saint.” Carlo was an Italian teenager with an extraordinary gift for technology, which he used to serve his faith.
From a young age, he had a deep love for the Eucharist and developed a website dedicated to documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world. Despite living in a modern, technology driven world, Carlo showed that holiness is possible for everyone, including young people who use social media and the internet daily. His life is a powerful witness that technology can be used for good and to share the Gospel to inspire others.
Carlo passed away in 2006 at the age of just 15 due to leukemia, but his legacy continues to impact millions worldwide. He is often referred to as “God’s influencer” because of his ability to connect faith with everyday life and digital culture. His canonization is a historic moment for the Church and a profound reminder that sanctity is not limited by age or era.
The parish is running the RCIA program (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) for adults inquiring about becoming Catholic. The first inquiry session will be held on Wednesday 10 September at 7.00 pm at St Ambrose Community Centre on 287 Sydney Road, Brunswick. For registration or more information please contact the parish at BMCC@cam.org.au or 9380 1023.
God bless and have a great week.
