Brooke's Message

Hello Families,

As we wrap up Term 3, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible efforts of our students, staff, and families throughout what has been a busy and rewarding term.

This term has been rich with learning, growth, and connection. From classroom milestones to whole-school events, our community has consistently demonstrated resilience, kindness, and a strong commitment to supporting one another.

🎂🐾 Happy Birthday Bunji! – Our Pawsome Pal Turns 4!

Over the weekend, our wonderful well-being dog Bunji celebrated a very special milestone — Bunji turned 4! And while he may have partied in his own doggy style at home, we made sure to bring the celebration to school last week!

Bunji has become a cherished part of our school family, bringing comfort, joy, and calm to students and staff alike. Whether it’s a gentle nuzzle during a tough moment or a wagging tail to greet us in the morning, Bunji’s presence makes a real difference in the wellbeing of our community.

To mark the celebration, we launched a “Design a Soccer Ball” Competition! Students were invited to unleash their creativity and submit their own soccer ball designs. The winning entry will be transformed into a real custom-made soccer ball — an exciting gift for Bunji that’s sure to kick off some serious outdoor play!

Thank you to everyone who joined in the celebration and helped make Bunji’s birthday so memorable. And of course—happy birthday, Bunji! We look forward to seeing him back in Week 2 of Term 4! 🐾💛

👌RUOK? Day 👌

On Thursday 11th September, our school proudly recognised R U OK? Day — a National Day of Action dedicated to reminding everyone to check in with those around them and start meaningful conversations.

Our Student Engagement Team hosted a variety of engaging and supportive activities tailored to different year levels with the added bonus of popcorn and hair styling, creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere throughout the day.

It was a wonderful celebration of connection, creativity, and care — reinforcing the powerful message that a simple question like “R U OK?” can make a big difference.

Thank you to all staff and students who contributed to making the day such a success.

📚2026 Class Placements 📝

Next term we will be compiling staffing and class groups. Staff teams have time to indicate what has been successful and challenging for student this year.

We will also be asking students for their feedback. Students will be choosing 3 peers they work well with and students they don't work well with.

We will share this information towards the end of the year, in preparation for our "Meet the Teaching Team 2026 Day".

🎆 Celebrating Our Education Support Staff 🎆

A few weeks ago, we took the opportunity to celebrate the incredible work of our Education Support (ES) staff at Melton Specialist School.

Our ES staff consistently demonstrate dedication, compassion, and professionalism in supporting our students and teachers. Whether assisting in classrooms, working one-on-one with students, or helping behind the scenes, their contributions are vital to the smooth running of our school and the success of our students.

Their ability to build strong relationships, provide consistent support, and foster a safe and inclusive environment make a meaningful impact every day. We are proud to acknowledge and thank them for the important role they played in our school community.

On behalf of all staff, students, and families, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our ES team. Your efforts are deeply appreciated and truly make a difference.

🎉 That’s a wrap on Term 3! 🎉

From big achievements in the classroom to big smiles in the playground, our students have made this term one to remember. You've worked hard, tried new things, and shown kindness, courage, and creativity every step of the way.

Now it’s time to take a break, enjoy some well-earned rest, and do more of the things that make you happy — whether that’s kicking a footy, drawing a masterpiece, or just relaxing in your PJs!

We can’t wait to see you all back in Term 4, ready for more fun, more learning, and more moments to shine.

Take care, and see you all in Term 4!
