Sacred Heart Production

Seussical Kids

Dear Parents & families,

Wow what a week we've had performing our production of Seussical Kids at St Bede's College. The students performances were absolutely amazing and its been a pleasure working with our Year 5 and 6 lead characters over many months. They have been fully committed learning their lines and practising their songs. The countless lunchtime and in classtime rehearsals have allowed them to refine their craft of singing, acting and dancing.

The performing Arts, particularly Drama and Music give students confidence, develops self esteem  and reminds them to believe in themselves. Performing on stage to a live audience is a very memorable moment in their childhood. We hope they cherish this experience forever. It's incredibly brave and courageous to perform to a live audience under the lights of the theatre. We can't be prouder of the students efforts and its been an absolute pleasure working with all students across the school from our youngest Fish to our seniors from Whoville.

We would like to personally thank all the staff who supported us to get the show up and running. They volunteeed to do make up, create props, paint sets, make costumes, support behind the scenes during rehearsals and peformances. It has certainly been a true team effort. We would also like to thank Karen Mathiesson for creating the program and organising the tickets with the wonderful P & F Treasurer Sam Tudor.

A huge thanks to all parents for providing costumes, the Class representatives for supporting the organisation of costumes. A special thankyou also goes to St Bede's College and Thomas Hubeek the Audiovisual leader who has been the calm one behind the scenes allowing us to perform at the auditorium with ease, it has been a pleasure working with you and your creative expertise, especially setting up the sound and lighting.

We also make a special thankyou to  Zena, Amelia's mum from Zena Photography for generously offering to come along to rehearsals to capture those special moments and for taking class and indivividual photos of our lead characters. We are so incredibly grateful.

A reminder to parents and students that Thursday nights performance was filmed so further details will be available next term about how to access the recording of Sacred Hearts's performance of Seussical Kids.

In the wise words of Dr Seuss remember-

It's possible, Anythings possible, A person's a person no matter how small, Oh the things you can think if you're willing to try! I have wings, I can fly! Tell yourself how lucky you are.

Have a wonderful, well deserved holiday break and we look forward to seeing you back next term,

Brigid Pennington, Stephen Coutts & Mary Bedford
