Principal News

Dear Families and Friends,
Could we have possibly closed our remarkable term at Sacred Heart in a more memorable way than with the simply stunning production of Seussical Kids? This was a true celebration of our students’ talents and an opportunity for them to shine. From the spectacular leads, Max and Molly, to the highly talented supporting cast and the incredible voices of every student on stage, the performance was nothing short of extraordinary.
Our gratitude also extends to Karen and Sam Tudor for organising the ticket sales and the many parents who assisted with costumes, as well as our highly dedicated staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes as make-up artists, runners, and crowd controllers. Your support played a vital role in bringing this production to life. As mentioned on the evening, many of our staff were unable to see the production in its entirety, as they were backstage or supervising students in the holding bays. In many ways, they were the unsung heroes of our production team, working quietly and tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly and our students could shine on stage.
We must also acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of our student leads, who willingly sacrificed countless lunch breaks to rehearse. Never once did they complain; instead, they seized every opportunity to refine their role in preparation for the big performance. Remarkably, with the exception of the final whole-school rehearsals, the academic program remained uninterrupted, a phenomenal achievement.
Congratulations to our students and staff. Seussical was a triumph, and we have so much to celebrate and be proud of at Sacred Heart.
Please note that professional photos will soon be available, courtesy of Zena. We are deeply grateful to her for once again so generously giving her time and talent to capture these special moments for our community.

Sacred Heart Recognised for Best Practice in Teaching and Learning
We are thrilled to share some exciting news!
The MACS Southern Regional Leaders (as part of Connection in the Field) have requested to visit Sacred Heart in Term 4 to see our staff in action. True best practice on display!
As part of the visit, the Southern Region Leaders will participate in a Learning Walk, visiting classrooms to observe teaching and learning in action. Following this, they will gather for a guided Leadership Discussion.
This invitation is a wonderful recognition of the incredible work happening across our school community, and we look forward to showcasing the inspiring practices that make Sacred Heart such a thriving place of learning.
In addition, with the upcoming invitation from VCAA (Victorian Curriculum & Assessment Authority) to video our staff in action for their professional learning platform, we are extremely proud that Sacred Heart is being acknowledged in this way. It is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and passion of our staff.
Teacher Spotlight
We have truly loved watching Miss O’Meara shine and grow in her first year of teaching. Her love for teaching, and most importantly for her students, has been one of the many highlights of this year. Perhaps the most notable observation has been her wholehearted investment in how we do things at Sacred Heart. We hold a tight, structured, rigorous, and explicit approach to our practices, with high expectations and a steep learning curve. Without fault, Miss O’Meara has risen to the challenge, continually exceeding our lofty standards. What a blessing it has been to welcome her to our staff in her first year of teaching. Such a bright and positive future most certainly awaits!
Annual Dad's Legends Footy Game
Families packed the Shane Warne Oval, the sun was shining, and the standard of footy was brilliant, even if a few bodies weren’t quite as quick or agile as they once were! That didn’t stop the competitive spirit, with our dads playing their hearts out and proudly taking home the coveted silverware against Black Rock Primary.
A huge thanks to Ant McCabe, the driving force behind this event, and to Gerard Beven, who led the team as captain for the final time, leaving behind a remarkable legacy (and looking fitter now than in his playing days!). Special mention to Digger Dooley, who was deservedly crowned Best on Ground.
This year’s secret weapon? An extensive interchange bench that gave our “slightly” older competitors the rest they needed to keep firing!
Congratulations Sacred Heart, what a brilliant team effort, both on and off the field. We are so lucky to be part of such an incredible community.

State Primary School Netball Championship
Our senior girls were incredible runners-up at the State Primary Schools Netball Championships. We are immensely proud of their skill and teamwork, as well as the outstanding guidance of their coach, Helen. What an amazing achievement!
Maddi R-N has been selected to represent Sacred Heart at the National Track & Field Championships in Canberra later this year, competing in the High Jump. We are incredibly proud of this achievement. Best of luck, Maddi, aim for the stars!
ANNUAL CLASH OF THE COURTS
We are so proud to support the upcoming TeamSports4All Charity Event on Sunday 16 November at the Bayside District Netball Association (Holloway Road), with the first centre pass at around 1pm. With a remarkable 11–12 school communities involved and more than 200 participants expected, this promises to be a fantastic day of sport, community spirit, and support for such a worthy cause. A heartfelt thank you to Amanda Molony and her dedicated team of mums for championing this initiative. From little things, big things truly grow. What began with just 3–4 schools in 2023 has now blossomed into 12 in 2025, an extraordinary achievement.
SRC Proposal
The leadership team was delighted to have Micaela drop by the office to share her thoughtful proposal to reintroduce a Student Representative Council (SRC). Her presentation was carefully considered and reflected a genuine desire to strengthen student voice within our community. Importantly, this was not about students voting on light-hearted preferences such as a ferris wheel versus a swimming pool, but rather about creating an authentic and meaningful platform for student perspectives to be heard.
Micaela’s proposal also demonstrated strong foresight and maturity, with suggestions such as including students from Years 3–6 only, and ensuring the SRC would be facilitated by a staff member on a fortnightly basis. We were so impressed by her courage, clarity, and conviction that the proposal will now be brought to the leadership team in the coming weeks to explore how we can implement it effectively and authentically.
We are truly fortunate to have the quality of leadership shown by Micaela emerging within our school, a wonderful sign for the future of student voice at Sacred Heart.
School Advisory Council – Expressions of Interest
We are seeking expressions of interest from parents who would like to join our School Advisory Council. This is a valuable opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and leadership team to help shape the future direction of our school.
The Advisory Council acts as a supportive voice, offering guidance on areas such as school improvement, financial governance, community engagement, communication, and the wellbeing and learning of our students.

LITTLE GEMS💎
How wonderful to have Thomas bring in a soccer trophy today that his team won on Saturday at the Castlefield Cup.
Thomas and Seb were selected to represent the Sandringham Soccer Club in the U8 Boys team. The boys were understandably very proud of themselves and their teammates and wanted to share the trophy with his class, Mrs Stroud and Mr Collis.
A big congratulations to Thomas and Seb on this fantastic achievement!
Louie proudly brought in his soccer trophy and has asked for this special photo opportunity to be shared at assembly this week. Another wonderful achievement!
All Stars Martial Arts Academy
We were delighted to see our students take part in in-class gradings this week, including Grace, who continues to make great progress.
On Saturday, Sacred Heart was proudly represented at the tournament, with our students showcasing their skills. A special congratulations goes to Micaela, who achieved 1st place in the Kata division — an outstanding achievement and a reflection of her hard work and dedication.
Many thanks to our Friday staff for supporting the students on the last day of term. It was a pretty special day.
And finally...
As we come to the end of what has been a truly remarkable term, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the collective efforts of our entire community. Our students have continued to shine through their learning, achievements, and enthusiasm for all aspects of school life. Our dedicated staff have once again gone above and beyond to ensure the very best for our children, and our families have offered unwavering support, encouragement, and partnership along the way. Together, we have achieved so much to be proud of. Wishing everyone a wonderful and well-deserved break, may it be a time of rest, joy, and renewal.
With much pride and gratitude,
Simon C
