Japanese Day and Speech Competition

Japanese Day
A big “Arigatō gozaimasu!” to all our parents, guardians, grandparents, and students for their wonderful creativity, time, and effort in making Japanese Day Dress-up such a success!
A special thank you to the PFA for organising the delicious sushi fundraising—it was a real treat.
Our Japanese Day concert was enjoyed by students, staff members and teachers, with an incredible performance by George Kamikawa and Noriko Tadano (finalists on Australia’s Got Talent). We are especially grateful to Tania Spiegel for securing this amazing duo, as they are always in high demand.
We are excited to announce that next year we will be running a full-day Japanese Day celebration! So please hold onto your dress-up outfits or start collecting ideas for another round of fun in 2026.
JLTAV Junior Speech Competition Success
On Sunday 31st August, Nina and Piper proudly won 1st Prize in the Year 5/6 Pair Division at the JLTAV Junior Speech Competition, held at Hawthorn Town Hall. They presented both a set speech and a free speech with confidence and competed against students from private, Catholic, and state schools all over Victoria.
A big thank you to their parents for all the support, encouragement and practising the speeches with them at home. The girls spent hours practicing by themselves as well as spending their recess and lunchtime with me. What a wonderful achievement! They brought a trophy to our school and it is displayed in the cabinet in the senior campus office area.
We also congratulate Ayano for her courage and determination in participating in the Open Primary Solo Division, where she competed against Year 6 students. Although there were no prizes awarded in this category due to the small number of entrants, her effort, bravery and enthusiasm were outstanding.
Congratulations to all three students – we are so proud of your hard work, talent, and confidence!
