Year 5 & 6 Bayview Adventure Camp
It always puts a smile on my face when I revisit the the photos from camp and reflect on the shared new experiences, the fun, laughs and the strengthening of relationships witnessed while away on Camp. Bayview Adventure Camp in Grantville is an outdoor adventure camp near Phillip Island which provides our students with space in a bush setting to try new things, to stretch out of their comfort zones and to encourage each other to have a go! It was a pleasure to take the Year 5 and 6 students away and watch them embrace every opportunity. They were so responsive to instructions, attentive to each other and loved every experience that was offered!
The students learnt to work with a partner in a canoe, to conquer their fear of heights on the Giant Swing, (some staff did as well), to soar from a height on the Flying Fox and to work collaboratively on the Low Ropes course. There was so much team work and cooperation on display throughout the three days and students amazed themselves with what they were able to achieve.
The Penguin Parade is always a highlight and even though the waves were rough and the wind was blowing we saw the fairy penguins reach the safety of the beach and waddle to their burrows. The students enjoyed a farming activity, toasting marsh mellows around a camp fire, trivia and tabloid sports and the Amazing Race on the final day. Our students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, courage and a true sense of team work.
Huge thanks to Miss Allen and Mr Arthur for supporting the students while we were away on camp and to Mrs Mastoras for making the camp program at St Roch's an important part of our Year 4 - 6 program.
Our Year 5 and 6 students had an unforgettable time at Bayview Adventure Camp!
Year 5 & 6 Students Visit Sunnyside Kindergarten
Our students became art teachers for a short time last week when they visited Sunnyside Kindergarten. This was a collaborative art project that helps to maintain the strong relationships we have established with Sunnyside over many years. Donna is always delighted to see her past students looking very grown up! After reading a story about bees the students worked with a kinder student to create a very colourful bee using different materials. Special thanks to Mrs Pullen whose creative genius organised the art project and to our team of amazing Learning support Officers who cut out material for 56 4 year old kinder students! Thanks to Cassie, Nicolle and Mia who supported our students at Sunnyside on the day.
Open Morning Tours
We were delighted to showcase our amazing school last Monday morning at our Open Day. The perspective families were incredibly impressed with our Year 6 leaders, the learning opportunities available and the quality of our staff and programs. We look forward to future tours in June and July. Please come along if you have the chance to see what a special place our school is to belong to, to learn and to grow within!

Essentially, this Working Bee is the Prep and Year 5&6 Working Bee, however, our Year 3&4 Families are warmly invited as we missed theirs in Term 1. This Working Bee is open to ALL! We will be wrapping up the hard work with a community sausage sizzle to say a huge thank you!
Please bring gardening gloves if you have them.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors, connect with other families, and show our school some pride. All are welcome! Bring the children, siblings, grandparents, and anyone else who wants to lend a hand.
