Year 8 Adventure

Year 8 Adventure
The camp season began on a high note as our Year 8 students set off on an adventurous journey program.
Carrying all their personal gear—along with shared group equipment—students travelled from Ryan’s Gap to Serpentine Gorge, covering approximately 38 km over five days.
Their journey included hiking three 7 km sections through parts of the Larapinta Trail (as well as off-track routes and riverbeds), tackling a demanding 16 km bike ride along sandy, rocky, and at times waterlogged 4WD tracks, and canoeing across Ellery Big Hole with all their gear in tow. Every kilometre was powered by human effort, determination and teamwork.
Along the way, students developed a range of outdoor cooking skills using Trangia and Mega Jet stoves, as well as hot coals over the campfire. From pizzas and baked bean jaffles to souvlakis, they demonstrated both creativity and adaptability while learning essential camp responsibilities, including cooking, fire safety, hygiene and environmental care.
Each evening brought laughter and reflection under the stars - sharing stories from the day and anticipating the challenges ahead. The experience tested their physical endurance, resilience and teamwork, leaving many with lasting memories of adventure, personal growth and friendship.
Congratulations to our Year 8 students for rising to the challenge, and to our dedicated staff for their enthusiasm and guidance in supporting students to succeed through overcoming challenges.
