Primary District Athletics
On Friday, May 22nd, 60 students from Years 3 to 6 proudly represented our school at the District Cross Country event held at Ballam Park. The weather was perfect and anticipation was electric!
Students displayed outstanding sportsmanship, determination, and perseverance throughout the day. The 9/10-year-old and 11-year-old competitors completed a challenging 1.5 km course, while the 12/13-year-old students tackled a demanding 2.5 km track.
All students should be commended for their efforts, whether they were aiming for a personal best, competing for a place at the next level, or simply giving their best throughout the race. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another and representing our school with pride.
A special congratulations goes to the following students who placed highly in their events and qualified for the Northern Division Cross Country Championships:

Primary Cross Country
Some students recently participated in the Cross Country event on a warm afternoon, where they demonstrated great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the course. They pushed themselves to complete the challenging track, encouraging one another along the way and showing determination from start to finish.
It was a fantastic display of resilience and team spirit, with students proudly representing the College. Congratulations to all who participated for their commitment and positive attitude on the day.
Friday Intersports
Friday Intersports continues to be a highlight for our students, with weekly matches in soccer, netball, and footy enjoyed in a positive environment. Students look forward to competing and developing their skills while proudly representing the College.
Each week also provides a great opportunity to welcome visiting schools from across the area and strengthen connections through friendly competition. The program continues to foster teamwork and build a strong sense of community.
Future Sports Stars
Ruby McFarland – Martial Arts
Ruby McFarland is a future sports star on the rise. She has been training, focusing and competing in martial arts for the past 12 months. On Sunday 17th May, Ruby represented her Martial Arts team and took part in the Victorian Jiu Jitsu Championship
Although Ruby’s opponents were well experienced in this sport with many years behind them, Ruby’s dedication, hard work and 12 months of training paid off. This was her 2nd official competition, and she competed well against some of the best in Victoria and around Australia.
Ruby competed in three rounds in both the under 60.5 kilo and 59 kilo range, coming away with the silver medal for both.
Ruby is hoping to have an opportunity to compete again in Queensland in July this year. We wish her all the best.
Northern Peninsula Division Cross Country – Hastings Foreshore
On Wednesday, June 3rd, our Division Cross Country team headed off to Hastings Foreshore to compete in the Northern Peninsula Division Cross Country Championships. After recess, students piled onto the school minibus and made the trip together, building plenty of team spirit (and probably counting down how long until they could warm up again).
Our team consisted of Eleanor Etheredge (11th), Macy Jones (20th), Edie Leggett (34th), Scarlett Trewin (26th), Lily Jones (29th), Sammi Gorrie (11th), Venicia Jezovita (30th), Chase McDermott (3rd), Caleb Kidney (21st) and Logan Jones (25th).
Throughout the day, students showed excellent determination, resilience and sportsmanship, along with plenty of encouragement for one another between races. It was fantastic to see teammates cheering just as loudly for others as they were running their own events.
A special thank you goes to our parent volunteers, Danielle Jones and Abby Kidney, whose support helped ensure the day ran safely and smoothly, while also adding to the positive and encouraging atmosphere for all students.
The weather certainly delivered a classic cross-country experience… cold, wet, and windy enough to remind everyone that sunshine is apparently not part of the official race package. Despite the conditions, our students embraced the challenge and represented the school with pride.
A special congratulations goes to Chase McDermott, who achieved an outstanding 3rd-place finish against some of the Peninsula’s strongest runners. Chase now progresses to Regional Cross Country, to be held back at Hastings Foreshore in two weeks’ time. With a return to familiar ground, he’ll be hoping to use his “home track advantage” to his benefit and run like he’s got the wind at his back the whole way.
Congratulations to all competitors on their outstanding efforts and for the way they supported one another throughout the day.
Outdoor Education
Year 7 Outdoor Education at Point Nepean
The Year 7 Outdoor Education students recently enjoyed a fantastic day hiking through Point Nepean National Park, making their way from the historic Quarantine Station to Fort Nepean.
Blessed with beautiful weather, students experienced some of the stunning coastal scenery that makes Point Nepean such a special place. Along the way, they learnt about the rich history of the area, including its important role during both World Wars and the story of former Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt.
The excursion provided students with the opportunity to challenge themselves physically, appreciate the natural environment, and deepen their understanding of Australia's history beyond the classroom.
We are proud of the way our Year 7 students embraced the experience and represented the College so well throughout the day. It was a wonderful combination of learning, adventure, and exploration.
Year 8 Outdoor Education at Enchanted Adventure
The Year 8 Outdoor Education students recently enjoyed a fantastic day at Enchanted Adventure Garden on the Mornington Peninsula.
Students challenged themselves high in the treetops on the tree surfing courses, demonstrating courage, resilience, and determination as they navigated a variety of obstacles. It was encouraging to see students supporting one another and stepping outside their comfort zones throughout the day.
The excursion provided valuable opportunities for students to develop teamwork skills, build positive relationships, and grow in confidence through adventure-based learning.
We are proud of the way our Year 8 students represented the College and embraced every challenge with enthusiasm. It was a wonderful day of learning, growth, and fun in the outdoors.
