Storytime

On Wednesday 27th May the Library welcomed ELC4, Preps and the 1/2 classes for the National Simultaneous Storytime. NSS is an annual event that brings millions of children across Australia together to read the same Australian picture book at the same time. The book being read this year was ‘Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller’ written by Adam Jackson, Adrien Lloyd and Illustrated by Jake Minton.

The afternoon was wonderfully assisted by Year 5/6JP who helped set up and clear the library of chairs and tables. The students were then treated to Mr Partridge reading the next book in this series called ‘Trickshot Harri: The cheetah world beater’.

Year 5/6 Indonesian Market Day

"Sepuluh ribu?" "Ya!" "Tidak" could be heard throughout the room as our Year 5/6 students transformed the Indonesian classroom into a bustling pasar (market).

After exploring Indonesian markets and learning about rupiah, students worked in pairs to create their own stalls selling fruits, vegetables, clothing, and more. Using Indonesian, they bargained, made purchases, and calculated change, applying their language and maths skills in an authentic setting.

Through hands-on activity, students build confidence, cultural understanding, collaboration, and communication skills while connecting with one of Australia's closest neighbours.

The room was filled with energy, laughter, and authentic conversations as students brought Indonesia to life.

Protectors Incursion

On Friday 29 May, students from Prep to Year 6 enjoyed The Protectors, an engaging wellbeing incursion presented by Brainstorm Productions. Through the story of Leo and Serena, students explored how empathy, resilience and assertiveness can help them navigate friendships, manage emotions, respond to bullying, and stay safe online.

The performance addressed important themes including positive relationships, cyber safety, conflict resolution, emotion regulation, respect and resilience. Students were highly engaged throughout the presentation, enthusiastically participating in discussions, asking thoughtful reflective questions, and even joining in the lively Protectors dance at the conclusion of the show.

The Protectors provided practical strategies that support the learning already taking place in our classrooms through our wellbeing and social skills programs. The messages also connected strongly with our school's values, encouraging students to show kindness, empathy, respect and courage in their interactions with others, reflecting the way God calls us to live and care for one another.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reinforce these important life skills in such an enjoyable and memorable way and look forward to continuing these conversations through follow-up classroom activities.

Mathematics in Action

In Mathematics, students explored the perimeter of composite rectangles and applied their measurement skills by using trundle wheels to measure different sections of the basketball court.

This hands-on activity helped them connect classroom learning with real-world measurement in a practical and meaningful way. They worked collaboratively to record and compare their results, strengthening their understanding of distance and accuracy.

The experience encouraged problem-solving as students considered how to best measure irregular shapes within a larger space.

Year 1/2 Golf Creations

For Integrated Studies, our Year 1/2 students have been learning about forces and movement through a fun hands-on mini golf project.

It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they designed and built their own unique courses. Students had to think strategically about obstacles, direction, and movement to create an exciting and challenging golfing experience.

Thank you, Mrs Crowther!

She has been a valued member of our classroom community, building genuine and caring relationships with the students. Her Christian values were evident in the kindness, patience, and encouragement she showed each day.

Mrs Crowther planned and delivered engaging lessons, and the students benefited from her enthusiasm and willingness to introduce new ideas and learning experiences. It has been a pleasure having her in our classroom, and she will be greatly missed by both students and staff.

The Prep M community would like to thank Mrs Crowther for her hard work, dedication, and positive contribution over the past four weeks. We wish her every success and God's blessing as she begins her teaching career.

Jogging Club

Jogging Club provides students with an opportunity to improve their fitness, build endurance, and enjoy physical activity in a fun and supportive environment. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves, set personal goals, and develop healthy habits while running and jogging with their peers.

Jogging Club meets on the school oval on Monday lunchtimes from 12:50 pm to 1:12 pm and Friday mornings from 8:15 am to 8:45 am. Students of all abilities are welcome to participate, with a focus on personal improvement, perseverance, and enjoyment rather than competition.

Parents are also welcome to join us for our Friday morning sessions. We look forward to seeing students stay active, build confidence, and enjoy the many benefits of regular exercise.
