Reading: Aim to read for 15 minutes each night at home.  

 

Mathematics: Use a device to get to visnos (a website) on google. Using the visnos clock, practice telling the time.  

 

Home Inquiry: Research the life cycle of an animal or plant of your choice this week at home. This may be helpful as we wrap up the unit of inquiry in the weeks ahead.

Writer’s Workshop: This term we are exploring a craft unit focusing on how we can make our writing POP! We will be learning about different techniques authors use and then using them in our own writing. We hope to publish our own books showcasing our new skills sometime later this term.  

 

Mathematics: We will be exploring measurement this week, including measuring length, mass and capacity. We will also revisit strategies for addition.   

 

Unit of Inquiry: In Term 3 and 4 we have a continuing focus on How We Organise Ourselves inquiring into Cooperation and Collaboration. We will have weekly lessons as well as entire weeks dedicated to this unit throughout the semester.  

 

We will continue our Unit of Inquiry – How the World Works with a focus on Cycles. This week we will do a deep dive into a life cycle of a plant or animal.

Year 2 Camp Packing List  

*PLEASE ENSURE EVERYTHING HAS YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON IT* 

Students and Parent Volunteers will need to bring:  

  • Own bedding (warm sleeping bag and pillow)  

  • A fitted single sheet to keep mattress clean (mattress provided by AFL Max) 

  • Appropriate clothing & footwear (enclosed shoes and socks).  

  • A change of clothes including underwear and socks 

  • Slippers or slip on shoes for nighttime. 

  • Something warm to sleep in  

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste and toiletries  

  • Water Bottle  

  • A packed Recess and Lunch for Day 1.  
  • Any medication required, along with written instructions/plan from your doctor (to be handed to school staff before departure). 

 

Optional:  

  • A book for reading.  

  • One soft toy (not too big).  

  • Torch. 

 

Provided by AFL Max:  

  • Mattress to sleep on. 

  • All Meals from afternoon tea – morning tea on Day 2.  

  • A fun filled program over two days.  

 

Do not bring:  

  • Aerosol deodorants or sprays.  

  • Lollies.  

  • Electronic devices.
