Learning In My Level

Year 4 Term 3 Wrap-Up: A Season of Discovery, Adventure and Growth!

What a jam-packed and exciting term it has been in Year 4! From wild adventures to deep learning, our students have thrown themselves into every challenge and celebrated every success. Here’s a look back at what we’ve been up to:

Wild Adventures

  • La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary gave us the chance to explore the delicate balance between native and invasive species.
  • At CYC Phillip Island Camp, students braved the canoe lakes, hit bullseyes in archery, flew high on the giant swing, and wowed us all with hidden talents in the much-loved Talent Show.
  • Book Day brought stories to life, with characters leaping off the page and into our classrooms—what a colourful celebration of reading!

Inquiry Investigators

Our big question this term was “Foe or Friend?”

  • We explored food chains, ecosystems, and the impact of invasive species on Australian environments.
  • Students are now preparing to showcase their understanding by building eco-system dioramas for our Week 9 exhibition. We can’t wait to see their creativity come alive!

Literacy Legends

  • We’ve journeyed through Kensuke’s Kingdom, diving into themes of sustainability and resilience while sharpening our comprehension skills.
  • Students became researchers and authors, writing information reports on invasive animals, flora and fauna in Australia.
  • To finish the term, we are crafting a camp brochure, reflecting on all the excitement, challenges, and laughs from Phillip Island.

Maths Explorers

  • This term we’ve travelled through fractions, decimals, probability and chance, and have just arrived at location and grid references before our final topic of time.
  • Who knew learning could be so sweet? Our Smarties fractions challenge made maths delicious.
  • Battleship tournaments and chance experiments brought energy and strategy into our classroom learning.

Looking Ahead

As Term 3 comes to a close, we are so proud of the resilience, teamwork, and creativity our Year 4s have shown. Next term promises even more adventures in learning as we dive into new inquiries, sharpen our skills, and prepare for an amazing finish to the year together.

Here’s to a final term filled with curiosity, laughter, and memories we’ll treasure long after Year 4!

Warmly, The Year 4 Team
