Principal's Report
Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2025
What a fabulous fortnight we have had a Rangeview. We began with the annual Book Week Parade and were so impressed with the costumes and ingenuity of our families, our teachers had professional learning on embedding the Resilience Project and also on Generative AI, and our Principals went to the Inner East Principal Forum, our Level 4 students attended Phillip Island CYC Adventure Camp, senior students participated in District Athletics, our boys and girls T-Ball teams competed at Regionals, Foundation and Level 1 started their swimming program, our Lego Club, Chess Club and Coding Club all met, and our whole school participated in two days of School Review - with classroom observations, student, parent and staff focus groups, and lots of discussion about what Rangeview does well and what we can improve into the future.
On Tuesday 19th August, Kate McLeod and I attended the Inner East Principal Forum in Doncaster. Karen Money our Regional Director provided an update on initiatives across all Government schools state wide and gave access to some State and Regional NAPLAN data (see below), and our Executive Director Jeremy Beard outlined improvements to our school Annual Implementation Plans. The main sessions then further unpacked the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Plan (VTLM 2.0) which will form the framework for school pedagogy into the future.

On Monday 18th Rangeview again celebrated a fantastic Book Parade Day with students in all levels stepping up the fabulous costumes and props! We celebrated the Children's Book of the Year Awards with the winner of the Younger Readers Book of the Year going to 'Laughter is the Best Ending' by Maryam Master and the Early Childhood category going to 'The Wobbly Bike' by Darren McCallum.
We thank our community for their generous participation in the Book Fair - we will receive 198 new books for our Library as a result of this Fair for our students to enjoy.
A huge thank you to Deidree Geilings and Lynette Ellis for organising and running such a successful Book Parade day, to our teaching and support staff for getting on board and participating with such enthusiasm, and to our wonderful parents and carers for creating the fantastical character costumes our students displayed.

On Wednesday 20th August 100 of our our Level 4 students departed the school for the Phillip Island Adventure Resort CYC. They took part in a huge range of activities and outings - some unique to the area including a Pelican Feeding.
A huge thankyou to the Level 4 Team, Anju Mehta, Kelly James, Dave Torr, Kate Wallis and our Their Care Coordinator, Jono Sar. Thank you also to the wonderful parent volunteers Chris Hui, Clint Anderson, Rosie Gentle, David Jones, Tom Morgan and Candice Huygen who were joined by our Principal class Liam Sommers and myself.

There is still time to complete the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.
