Year 5

Learning About Disability with Prue McCarthy
This week, our students had the wonderful opportunity to meet Prue McCarthy, who shared her inspiring story of living with cerebral palsy. Prue helped us explore what disability means and the many different types that people may experience. She explained that while we may look different on the outside, on the inside we all share the same hopes, feelings and dreams.
Students learned about Prue’s own journey, her background, and the challenges she faces, as well as the strengths and determination that help her thrive. Together, we discussed how important it is to show kindness and respect to people with disabilities, and to recognise that everyone has unique abilities to share.
Prue’s visit was a valuable reminder that inclusion and understanding make our school
and community stronger.
