District Athletics
On Monday, the District High Jump and 1500m events were held, and 8 of our Eglinton Public School students proudly represented our school: Sophie Dutton, Darcy Watson, Rhys Simmons, Anabel Astridge, Gus Slattery, Billy Healey, Ava Hemming and Phoebe Hemming all ran and jumped with determination.
Darcy Watson, Anabel Astridge, Phoebe Hemming, and Rhys Simmons will now go on to represent our district at Western Athletics! Anabel had a nail-biting 1500m race, going head-to-head with another athlete right to the finish line and crossing in an equal first place; it was such an exciting race.
Phoebe Hemming soared to new heights in High Jump, breaking her personal best, a fantastic achievement showing her hard work and persistence. Special mention goes to Darcy Watson, who not only won the Junior Boys 1500m but also broke the District Record, an incredible achievement!
Well done to all of our athletes! We are so proud of your efforts and sportsmanship. This Friday, the rest of our team will proudly represent Eglinton at the District Athletics Carnival. Go Eglinton!
Aceson and Hannah Earn Spot in 2025 Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee
We are proud to announce that Aceson Kovcalija-Fitzpatrick and Hannah McManus won our school’s spelling competition, earning the opportunity to represent Eglinton PS at the 2025 Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee held on Tuesday. Their impressive spelling skills and dedication earned them this prestigious chance to showcase their talents at the next level.
Although the Stage 2 competition was postponed due to connectivity issues affecting schools across the state, Aceson represented our school with outstanding spelling ability and knowledge. We commend both students for their hard work and wish Hannah all the best in the competition.
Well done, Aceson and Hannah! Keep up the great work!
What a Fabulous Parade!
A huge thank you to our parents, students, and teachers for the incredible effort you put into your costumes – you all looked amazing! Your creativity and enthusiasm truly made the parade a memorable event.
We would also like to give a big shout out to Mrs Davey for her fantastic organisation, and to our wonderful captains for expertly comparing the parade. Well done, everyone!
Book Week is a wonderful celebration of reading and we encourage all students to enjoy reading regularly throughout the year. Developing a daily reading habit helps build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and fosters a lifelong love of learning. Keep reading and exploring new stories every day!
We also want to sincerely thank our parents for their amazing support of our Book Fair. Your involvement helps make these events successful and encourages a love of books in our school community. Thanks to your generous support, we will be able to purchase many new books for our school, further enriching our library and classrooms. Thank you for helping us foster a culture of reading!
