From the Boarding Captain

Hello everyone!
With the academic year well underway, Term Three is usually a period of focus, where assessments and exams begin to demand serious attention, and boarding life provides the structure to stay on track. Slowly the colder weather has begun to disappear with the sun coming out and everyone beginning to head outside with a few games of basketball.
Living away from home teaches independence and resilience, but it also reminds you of the importance of community. It involves sharing meals, supporting each other through busy weeks, and celebrating small wins together. Term Three is about finding a balance between school, fun and spending time with each other.
Week Six has seen the Year Ten students head out on Work Experience, bringing a mix of nerves and excitement as they venture into the workforce. Their absence has made Breaksea and Eclipse feel a little quieter, but I am looking forward to hearing about their experiences and hope they make the most of this valuable opportunity.
Last Sunday was Year Twelves last rec! As of us Year Twelves are coming to our boarding end we are having a few final moments. To celebrate, the Year Elevens and Twelves went bowling at the Wild West Bowling alley. It was filled with energy, laughter, and a healthy dose of friendly competition. Some of us were surprised with strikes and spares, while others embraced the challenge of avoiding the dreaded gutter ball. It was a great opportunity for everyone to relax, bond, and enjoy time away from school routines, leaving everyone with smiles and stories to share.
We have begun to embrace dinner time as a time of the day to catch up with friends, share stories and enjoy a meal. It is a chance to unwind, recharge with a warm meal, and enjoy a sense of community that makes boarding feel like a second home. We have also continued Sunday sessions which are enjoyed with a warm fire.
I hope you all have an enjoyable rest of the term!
