Yalari Visit

We were delighted to welcome four of our Yalari families to morning tea at Great Southern Grammar on Friday, 22 August, ahead of the Closed Weekend. Families travelled from Port Hedland, Fitzroy Crossing, Derby, Broome, and Perth to be part of this special occasion.

 

A heartfelt thank you to all staff who took the time to connect with our Yalari families during their stay in Albany. The families thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were deeply appreciative of the warm welcome and hospitality they received.

 

Special mentions to:

  • Ms Georgie Mullins, our Yalari Student Support Officer, for her ongoing support.
  • The Catering Department (Chef Nick Harvey, Chef Jeremy Vallery, Chef James McNeil, and Mrs Jess Bessen) for morning tea.
  • Mrs Rebekah Henderson for taking the beautiful photos you see in this issue of The Boarding Buzz.
  • Mrs Julia Bairstow for providing the coffee station and Mrs Frances Fuller for assisting with clean-up.
  • Mr Lewis Ward and Ms Madi van der List for spending time with the families throughout the day.
  • Mrs Conny Stone and Mr Bill Van Helden for helping with transportation between the school and accommodation over the five-day visit.

 

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly seeing the joy and excitement on the faces of the families as they reunited with their children.

Administration Relief

I’m pleased to introduce Ms Caroline Hirt, who is currently job sharing the Boarding Administration role with me on Mondays and Tuesdays for the remainder of this term. Caroline will also continue to job share the role for one day a week in Term Four.

 

Caroline has two young daughters in Primary School and has been working with the boarding team since the beginning of Term Two in the Day Duties role on a Tuesday morning. She also works in the day school doing administration relief.

Regional Roadshow Sundowners

Our Regional Roadshow Sundowners continue in 2025.  Our next event is at the Newdegate Field Day on Wednesday 3 September from 4.00pm to 5.00pm.  Please join us at the Plough and Tractor (Footy Bar), 1 Waddell Drive, Newdegate. All past, present and future families are welcome.

Following the Newdegate Field Day, please join us at the Esperance, Kojonup, Katanning or Albany shows.
