  Relieving Principal's Message

Education Week Next Week

We are excited to remind the Carlingford West Public School community that next week is Education Week! This special week is an opportunity for us to celebrate and showcase student achievement in all its forms. We look forward to sharing our students’ learning journeys and successes with you throughout the week. Stay tuned for updates and ways to join in the celebrations!

School Field

We are excited to share that starting this week, our students will be able to enjoy using the grass field! The field will be used for PE and sport lessons from Kindergarten to Year 6 and will also be open for student play during the second half of lunch.

Each grade from Years 2 to 6 will be allocated a specific day each week to run and play on the field. The students are thrilled about this fantastic new opportunity to be active and have fun outdoors!

Pedestrian Safety

May I please ask that you ensure you drop off your child safely and park appropriately. If you are walking, please use the footpaths rather than walking on or across the road dangerously.

Daily we see some parents and carers leading their children across Felton Road in between waiting cars, almost like you would on a pedestrian crossing. It is always vitally important that parents and carers model pedestrian safety.

Unsafe pedestrian safety (such as walking across a road rather than using the correct path) goes against what teachers at CWPS are explicitly teaching your children.

Our turning circles are well designed and offer exit points for pedestrians on both sides of Felton Road so there is NO need for students to be crossing the road unsafely.

It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure our students are safe.

Road Safety

Following on from our earlier messages about pedestrian safety, staff have raised concerns about some parents and carers parking in the turning circle line and having their children cross the road to enter the car, then attempting to turn around to leave.

This practice not only puts pedestrians at risk but also blocks traffic entering and exiting the turning circle.

To ensure the safe and efficient movement of all community members at dismissal, we kindly ask that all cars use the turning circle correctly and avoid blocking Felton Road, allowing safe access for all road users. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children and community safe.

School Pick Up

The school day concludes at 3:25 pm. Parents are expected to collect their children promptly at this time from their prearranged pick-up point or the turning circle (Years 1-6).

Students using the turning circle must be collected no later than 3:50 pm. Any students not collected by 3:50 pm will be taken to OSHC, and a fee will be charged by OSHC.

If there is an unexpected circumstance or emergency and you are unable to pick up your child, you need to contact the OSHC number (1300 009 679) before 2:30pm to arrange a casual enrolment and advise the school office.

We understand that occasionally families will experience emergencies. Please ensure family contacts including emergency contacts are up to date on our records.

It is unacceptable to expect that children are supervised without notice past 3:25 pm.

Kind regards,

Lee Shipley,

Relieving Principal.
