Principal's Message

Dear Families,

One Week to Go!...Holy Saviour Production - Turn Back Time

There is a great buzz around the school at the moment! Songs being sung, dance moves being rehearsed, lines being committed to memory, costumes and backdrops being finalised! We’ve had one whole school rehearsal this week and there’ll be another two on next week. It has been exciting to hear and see the difference in all the children from the first session to the latest. I can’t wait to see the final product on Thursday night.

Trybooking is open again should you wish to "purchase" more tickets, still with a limit of four tickets per transaction. After consultation and feedback from parents, we will make the seating General Admission so that families can sit together. Doors will open at 6:20pm so that you can find seats together.

Please refer to the "School Production" page further in the newsletter for more important details.

Staffing Changes in 2025

After four years at Holy Saviour, we thank and farewell Mrs Sherridan Leeson who has decided that with a young family, working closer to home is a priority. Sherridan has been with us for the past four years as Finance & Administration Officer and has been an amazing support to all here. We wish her well and every happiness and will miss her smile in the school office.

Weeden Drive Safety

It has been brought to my attention by a number of concerned parents and staff about the unsafe way in which parents are dropping or collecting their children each day. For the safety of all who enter and exit the school at Weeden Drive, I ask that all please follow the below directions:

  • No parking in front of the entry gates.
  • No U-Turn to be performed directly in front of the school.
  • Do not use the school driveway to turn around, this space needs to remain clear for pedestrian access.
  • Use the pedestrian crossing at all times when crossing the street, whether you have a child with you or not.

The safety and wellbeing of all children is our priority at Holy Saviour and the cooperation and patience of all users is paramount in ensuring this happens.

2025 Transition Sessions

We have our final Prep Transition session next Tuesday 3rd December at 9am and are very excited to welcome back our 2025 Prep class. We have been blown away by the ease with which each of the new students has already settled into school life!

We also have our 2nd and final transition session for our Year 1-6 students on Wednesday 11th December at 9am. Again, we were very impressed with the way in which all students transitioned so smoothly at our first session and are looking forward to the next one!

December Student Reports

Over the past few weeks teachers have been involved in writing student reports as well as analysing data gathered throughout Semester Two. At Holy Saviour we use numerous assessment tasks as well as teacher observations and records to inform our report writing.

On Friday 13th December, school reports will be emailed to families and are just one part of our reporting to parents that occurs throughout the year. We hope that these student reports are a cause for celebration of learning and that families are able to focus on the positive achievements whilst encouraging their child/children to consider their challenges as they continue their learning journey at Holy Saviour.

School Advisory Council Thanks

This week we had our final School Advisory Council meeting for the year and I wish to acknowledge and thank the SAC for their continued patience, openness, honesty and advice throughout the year. It is wonderful to have such a supportive parent community to work with. I wish to thank Belinda Saville (Chairperson), Paul Fitzgerald, Karen Inguanti, Briony Greene, Laetisha Denning and Brooke Eddington for your work this year. The SAC will look different next year as it will form part of the greater Emmaus College School Advisory Council, we will call for parent nominations early in the new school year.

Prep 2025 Enrolments

We have had great interest in Prep for 2025, as well as other year levels, and we’ve had a good number of enrolments come through already. If you have a child who is eligible to start Prep in 2025, please submit your enrolment at your earliest convenience. This will enable us to develop a clear picture of classing and group sizes for 2025. Enrolments for 2025 are to be made through the Emmaus portal

Final Thoughts ~ The Advent Wreath

The Advent wreath is a traditional centerpiece leading up to the Christmas season. A candle is lit on each of the four Sundays preceding Christmas. The first candle (violet) represents hope, the second (violet) peace, the third (rose) joy, and the fourth (violet) love. The central white candle is lit on Christmas Day and represents Christ. The wreath itself is also symbolic. The circle of evergreen in which the candles are placed represents everlasting life.  The seed pods, nuts and cones used to decorate the wreath are symbolic of life and resurrection, the laurel signifies victory over persecution and suffering, pine and holly signify immortality, and fruits (such as apples) represent the nourishing fruitfulness of the Christian life. The word ‘advent’ means ‘coming’; lighting the candles on the Advent wreath symbolises the coming of Light (Jesus) into the world. The Advent Wreath teaches us about Christian preparation for celebrating Jesus’ birth and making our hearts truly ready to receive Him. The Advent Wreath can be a way to involve even very little children in learning about Christian preparation for celebrating Jesus’ birth and making our hearts truly ready to receive Him.

Make your own Advent Wreath at home

Kind regards,
