Principal's Message

To Strive, To Seek, To Care with HEART

Dear Parents & Friends,

As we near the end of another academic year, we have the chance to celebrate and reflect on our accomplishments and also look to those areas we need to improve.

In the last few weeks, the Year 12s have completed their exams, graduated and celebrated with their families at the Valedictory Dinner. The Year 12 band got the graduates and their families up and dancing and the photo booth provided a lot of entertainment.

The Year 11s also completed their exams and are working hard to complete some Year 12 work in the final few weeks. We are one of the few schools that utilize this extra time to get a head start on the demands of Year 12s and it does make a difference for both staff and students.

The boarders held their Night of Nights presentation, and it was wonderful to see the families come into town especially to help celebrate the achievements of our young people living away from home. We were fortunate to have beautiful cool weather to enjoy the evening outdoors in the quad. This was also a farewell to our Director of Boarding, Dr Rob McArthur, as he and his family move back to Victoria.

The Soiree was another highlight and showcased the depth of musical talent we have at the school. We made some changes to the individual lessons mid-year and I’m grateful to Mr Edward Evans our Teacher in Charge of Music, for sourcing new music teachers. I’m also appreciative of Ms Kate Savage, our strings teacher for continuing with the program through the changes. Next year we will have a full complement of teachers for any student wishing to have individual lessons.

This week we held our Advent Service on Wednesday. Our Chaplain, Sarah Pollitt, continues to plan and make herself available for our House services, Commencement, Easter and Advent services not to mention our regular assemblies. Her continuous guidance and support to all members of our community is immeasurable.

Next week includes the final Learning Expo on Tuesday, the Academic Awards Assembly on Wednesday and the Subject Awards on Friday. Year 10 exams are running Monday through Thursday, and we will finish the semester after the Christmas Concert on Friday at 1.30 pm

I wish everyone a joyous and safe holiday season and look forward to seeing those of you returning next year.

~ Kind regards,

Leslie
