Out and About
Salisbury Lutheran Kindy Excursions
Each week this term, groups of Year 9 English students have visited the Salisbury Lutheran Kindergarten to share the love of reading.
They have read picture books, played in the yard and listened to the students stories.
The youngest members of our Connected Schools Community have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to get to know 'the big kids' and listen to books in small groups read with gusto.
We'd like to thank Salisbury Lutheran Kindergarten for this opportunity, and the student participants for their willingness to share.

SACSA Touch Football
On Tuesday and Wednesday last week, five Endeavour teams competed in the final SACSA carnival of the year. Our Year 7 and 8 teams fought hard all day, showing significant improvement and learning plenty of cunning tactics from their opposition. Teams are looking forward to applying what they learned in next year’s instalment.
Our Year 10 Girls took two teams with the Endeavour Gold team placing third, while the boys placed a healthy fifth with only some very narrow losses separating them from an even higher placing. Typically, all students played with great sportsmanship, representing the College with pride.
We particularly thank the student coaches who supported the day with care and skill.

Knockout Cricket
Last week Endeavour had its second-round match in the Year 7/8 Knockout Cricket Tournament. The day started with a long trip to Mount Barker High School.
After the toss it was decided that we would be batting first. The boys fought hard and managed to make 117 runs.
Now it was time to bowl and defend the total the boys made. The game went down to the wire, but unfortunately the boys lost in the very last over of the game, meaning they will just miss out on the semi-finals. We are super proud of the boys for making through to the second round and for their commitment to after school training for the last term and a half.

Year 9 Challenge Accepted Camp:
Adventure, Growth, and Unforgettable Memories
Last week, our Year 9 students left the comforts of home (and their mobile phones!) and embarked on the much-anticipated Challenge Accepted Camp held in the stunning Grampians National Park. Over four days, students were immersed in breathtaking landscapes, physically demanding activities, and the authentic connection that comes through shared adventure. It was more than just a camp; it was a journey of growth, resilience, and teamwork.
The weather could not have been more perfect for spring, with sunshine and crisp mountain air setting the stage for our outdoor expeditions. Students tackled the renowned Pinnacle Hike, pushing through steep climbs to be rewarded with sweeping views that left everyone reaching for their digital cameras.
The Mackenzie Falls hike, famous for its endless stairs to finish, tested legs and determination, but the cascading water made it worthwhile. To cap off at least one of their hikes, students were able to enjoy a well-earned treat at the Halls Gap ice cream shop, where the hardest challenge seemed to be choosing between flavours!
Adventure activities like rock climbing, abseiling, and high ropes brought out the thrill-seekers alongside students who conquered their fear of heights. It was these moments in particular that captured the true spirit of the camp—students, teachers and old scholars encouraging one another to step outside of their comfort zones and embrace challenges head-on.
Of course, no camping trip is complete without the quintessential tent or hutchie experience, where students learn to set up their own shelters and cook meals on Trangias. It was heartening to see students grow more independent, take responsibility for their needs, and share laughs over slightly under/over-seasoned fried rice in some cases!
The camp concluded with a reflective sunset visit to Boroka Lookout for the girls and Reeds Lookout for the boys. This was the final time tribes gathered during the camp to soak in one last view of the Grampians and to celebrate their incredible achievements of the previous days and the people who inspired and motivated them.
The Challenge Accepted Camp is not just about the hikes or activities; these were just a means for connections to be forged, resilience to be built, and memories to be created. Our Year 9 students return home with stories of triumph, teamwork, and growth—proof that they rose to the challenge and succeeded! I hope they are as proud of their growth as I am and take the skills gained from this adventure to the remainder of their time as middle years students as the end of the year will be here before we know it!

Connected Schools Athletics Carnival
On 13 November 2024, Endeavour College selected 18 Year 11 students to serve at the Connected Schools Athletics Carnival.
This event was sponsored by Endeavour College and brings together representatives from Years 3 - 6 from each of the Connected Schools: Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School, Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School and St Paul Lutheran Primary School. The Year 11s assisted in marshalling, record keeping and measuring the field events.
They served with enthusiasm and commitment and engaged with the students with encouragement, tips and general positivity. They represented Endeavour College well.
The Year 11s also had an opportunity to connect with old primary school teachers and younger siblings of fellow Endeavour College students. Principal, Mr Richard Baird, presented the winning trophy to St Paul Lutheran.
This event reiterated our part in the wider Connected Schools community.
