Message from the Principal Team
Week 6 Term 4 2024
Dear CNPS Families,
I hope you have been enjoying some of the sunny Spring days of late. As Acting Principal of Carlton North Primary School, I am optimistic and positive about our future. Part of my optimism comes from conversations I engage in with students about their learning. Recently I was speaking with a group of students about the importance of resilience; how building skills to bounce back from adversity is an important life skill. Teachers regularly discuss with students that making mistakes is part of the learning journey and thus understanding the importance of resilience. I am proud of the students at CNPS as they build their skills, knowledge and resilience for the exciting learning challenges that lie ahead.

Transport Accident Commission
We are excited to inform the community that Carlton North Primary School will be partnering with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) in the development of a video resource about safe travel to school. The project focuses on the important periods when students transition from kinder to foundation and primary to secondary school. A key part of the project is highlighting key road safety messages to support safe travel to school. The resource and supporting information will be provided to schools to distribute to families and students to raise awareness and start conversations about road safety.
Remembrance Service
On Monday 11 November 2024, all staff and students at CNPS came together for a special remembrance service. This important day allows staff and students to remember those who have served, died or suffered in all wars and peacekeeping operations. The assembly was led by our student leaders, supported by staff who lowered and raised the four flags that sit along the karawun building. Thank you to all students for your attention during this important assembly.
2025 Foundation Transition
This week the 2025 Foundation cohort attended CNPS for the first in their two-part transition program. These special days allow our youngest incoming students to meet their new peers, have a look at the amazing Foundation classrooms and get to know CNPS staff. Congratulations to all the 2025 Foundation students and their families for coming into CNPS and embracing the exciting adventure ahead. Next Wednesday 20 November 2024, both transition groups will come together and parents/carers will be on-site for an information session about all things Foundation and Carlton North Primary School.
Staff Recruitment
Over the past month Jane, Erin, Trish and I have been engaged in workforces planning for 2025. This includes revising school finances, advertising teaching positions for 2025 and recruitment. I am pleased to say that CNPS has had strong interest from potential applicants and I look forward to sharing an update with School Council at our final meeting for the year about workforce planning. Can I please thank those staff who have been involved in the recruitment process throughout the 2024 school year.
Year 5/6 Summer Gala Day
Last Friday 8 November 2024 students in Year 5 and 6 participated in the Summer gala day. This is an exciting opportunity for students to participate in different sports, representing themselves and Carlton North Primary School. Congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 cohorts for your efforts and displaying the CNPS values throughout the event. These sporting events cannot occur without the hard working team in the background. At CNPS Chris and Trish play pivotal roles, not only coordinating CNPS staff and students but supporting the wider district. Thank you Chirs and Trish for your work.
Please reach out to Jane, Erin or I should you have any questions or require support.
Warm Regards
Matthew Ferguson
Acting Principal
