CNPS School Project Update

We have an exciting update on our school upgrade project. As you may remember, in the 2024-25 State Budget, the Victorian Government granted our school a significant investment of at least $8.4 million to upgrade and modernise the school to give our students better learning spaces. As you know, since completing our Asset Management Plan, our senior leadership has been working with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and architect to complete the project's schematic design. I can now share that this includes a design for a new multi-purpose centre – a key tenet of our Asset Management Plan. We are planning to upgrade the library and foundation classrooms, as well as the admin area, while conserving the valuable heritage components of the buildings. An arborist has identified the need to remove one tree to accommodate the new multi-purpose centre and three trees to accommodate the kiosk on the northeast boundary of the school site. To offset any loss of biodiversity from removing native vegetation during capital works, the VSBA is working with an arborist to keep as many trees as is safely possible and will plant at least three trees of a comparable species for every tree removed, in line with their tree removal and replacement policy. You may remember from the previous update that we are currently in the design development stage; this is an important phase. The initial ideas developed during the schematic design phase are refined and transformed into a more detailed plan. This phase bridges the gap between the initial creative vision and the practical implementation of the project. By the end of the design development phase, the project's design will be detailed enough for construction documents to be compiled. This documentation is known as Issued For Construction (IFC) documentation and will form the basis of the tender to engage a builder. Once this phase is complete, we can find a builder to turn these designs into reality and share our plans with you. Thank you for your support as we work together on this project, I'm excited to share more updates soon.

Bandanna Day

Thanks so much to everyone who bought a bandanna and wore it proudly on Friday. I haven't done the final count yet, but last count was almost $1300 for Canteen, to raise money and awareness for young people with cancer. Thanks to the SRC students who organised this fundraiser and sold bandannas on the day.
